New Mexico's Gautsche Sits in Favor of B.R. Holbrook

News: Cole Gautsche rushed 10 times for 41 yards in a 24-20 loss to Colorado State on Saturday.
Analysis: Cole Gautsche was the starter the last couple of weeks, but they went with senior B.R. Holbrook in his final game this week. In the pistol offense, Gautsche becomes a intriguing play in deeper and MWC-only leagues as a sophomore in 2012.

New Mexico's Gautsche Rushes For Two TDs in Loss

News: Cole Gautsche didn't complete either of his two passes, but did rush 16 times for 72 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-24 loss to Nevada on Saturday.
Analysis: The production on the ground from Cole Gautsche is nice, but he's not worth starting in a quarterback slot in fantasy. New Mexico plays a woeful Colorado State team next week, but Gautsche is only worth an add if your in desperate need of a QB in MWC-only or deeper leagues.

New Mexico's Gautsche Has a Productive Day

News: Cole Gautsche went 8-of-15 for 155 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 17 times for 149 yards in a 28-23 loss to Wyoming on Saturday.
Analysis: Cole Gautsche received his second straight start and improved dramatically from the week before. If Gautsche can continue to be a threat in the run-game, he would be worth a start in MWC-only and deeper leagues. The Lobos host Nevada next week, so watch and see if Gautsche is worth adding.

New Mexico's Gautsche Excites With 76-Yard TD

News: Cole Gautsche completed one pass for 11 yards while rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown on five carries in a win over Hawaii on Saturday.
Analysis: While Cole Gautsche's touchdown in the third quarter was impressive, he just doesn't play enough for fantasy purposes.

New Mexico's Gautsche Not Needed Much in Win Over Texas State

News: Cole Gautsche carried the ball seven times for 79 yards in a 35-14 win over Texas State on Saturday.
Analysis: Cole Gautsche provided viewers with a perfect example of why he can't be trusted for a fantasy team. He always seems to rack up yards, but his touchdowns are sparse.

New Mexico's Gautsche Returns With Two Touchdowns

News: Cole Gautsche carried the ball 11 times for 71 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Boise State on Saturday.
Analysis: After not playing against Texas Tech, the running quarterback Cole Gautsche made his return. He now has four rushing touchdowns on the season, but it's unknown how much he'll play from game-to-game. For that reason, it's too risky to own him in fantasy.

New Mexico's Gautsche Didn't Play Against New Mexico State

News: Cole Gautsche didn't play in the Lobos' win over New Mexico State on Saturday.

New Mexico's Gautsche Fails to Find Room in Loss to Texas Tech

News: Cole Gautsche didn't complete a pass, but did take eight carries for 36 yards in a 49-14 loss to Texas Tech on Saturday.
Analysis: Cole Gautsche didn't do much of anything against Texas Tech and should be dropped if owned. No one on the Lobos' offense is currently worth owning.

New Mexico's Gautsche Shut Down by Texas

News: Cole Gautsche had a bad day against Texas while completing 0 of his 4 passes, throwing an interception and managing only 35 yards on 13 carries in a 45-0 loss.
Analysis: Even though starting quarterback B.R. Holbrook left the game in the second quarter with a head injury, Cole Gautsche couldn't capitalize when he had the ball. Texas does have one of the best defenses in the nation, so Gautsche could still be a viable fantasy starter.

New Mexico's Gaustsche Will Split Time With B.R. Holbrook

News: When the Lobos play Texas on Saturday, both Gaustsche and senior quarterback B.R. Holbrook will receive reps, the Albuquerque Journal reports.
Analysis: In a 66-21 win over Southern, Cole Gautsche completed only one pass for 13 yards, but ran eight times for 88 yards and two touchdowns. The freshman excels at running the ball in the Lobos' option offense, making him viable in fantasy leagues.
