News:Jalen Whitlow had an excellent spring game for Kentucky, Edward Aschoff of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis:Jalen Whitlow threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns in the Blue-White game. After a season where he recorded a 54% completion rate and only three touchdowns in ten games he was not likely to be the starter, but is now a serious contender for 2013. Whitlow's athleticism is definitely an advantage he has over the other quarterbacks on Kentucky's roster.
News:Jalen Whitlow completed 29-of-45 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown at Tennessee on Saturday, while also rushing nine times for 31 yards.
Analysis:Jalen Whitlow set career-highs in attempts, completions and passing yards.
News:Jalen Whitlow completed 10-of-13 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown against Samford on Saturday, while also rushing seven times for 59 yards and another score.
Analysis:Jalen Whitlow found the end zone for the first time since October 13 at Arkansas.
Kentucky's Whitlow Totals 89 Yards in Loss to Vanderbilt
News:Jalen Whitlow completed 5-of-12 passing for 66 yards and took seven carries for 23 additional yards Saturday as Kentucky fell to Vanderbilt 40-0 at home in Lexington.
Analysis:Jalen Whitlow managed the Kentucky offense until midway through the second quarter of Saturday's contest, when he began to split series with backup Patrick Towles. Towles took over permanently once Vanderbilt went up 34-0, however, leaving Whitlow with just 89 total yards for the day. Expect the latter might put up significant better numbers Nov. 17 versus Sanford.
News:Jalen Whitlow was 9-of-18 for 76 yards at Mizzou on Saturday.
Analysis:Jalen Whitlow also rushed six times for 15 yards, but fumbled a ball that was returned by the Tigers for a touchdown. Whitlow did receive the majority of snaps despite the return of Patrick Towles (ankle), but neither QB is much of an option at this point.
News: Patrick Towles (high ankle sprain) has been able to practice this week and will likely play at Missouri on Saturday, but split playing time with Jalen Whitlow, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports.
Analysis: The Kentucky quarterback position won't be much of an option for fantasy purposes as a result.
News:Jalen Whitlow (head) was 9-of-13 for 86 yards Saturday against Georgia. He also ran for a season-high 31 yards, but had to leave the game with a migraine and did not play in the second half.
Analysis:Jalen Whitlow is not a good fantasy quarterback because the freshman is only completing 46.6-percent of his throws in limited attempts. He is a work in progress and may be decent in future years, but appears to have lost ground to Morgan Newton heading into next week's tilt at Mizzou.
News:Jalen Whitlow was 2-of-10 for 83 yards and a touchdown at Arkansas on Saturday.
Analysis: It's fairly clear that the Wildcats are the worst team in the SEC East, and Jalen Whitlow is not the answer under center.
News:Jalen Whitlow was just 10-of-21 for 73 yards against Mississippi State on Saturday, though he did rush eight times for 26 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Meanwhile, Patrick Towles was 5-of-6 for 71 yards and a touchdown as the Wildcats continue to search for an answer under center due to the loss of Maxwell Smith (knee).
News:Jalen Whitlow and Patrick Towles split reps with the first-team offense in practice with Maxwell Smith likely out for the season with a knee injury and both could get playing time this week against Mississippi State, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports.
Analysis: It will be hard to relay on either Kentucky quarterback for playing time until a clear starter emerges from the two.
