Colts WR Hilton still red-lighted Thursday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:26 pm ET) A hamstring problem has Colts star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton out of practice again Thursday. Hilton had been considered likely to return Wednesday or Thursday, but remains out.

There is no indication, however, that he will be sidelined for the Sunday game at Dallas.

Report: QB Cam Newton likely Panthers starter on Sunday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:23 pm ET) Cam Newton is the likely starter at quarterback for the Panthers against visiting Cleveland on Sunday, according to The Associated Press. That prediction is based on his workload Thursday in practice.

Newton is recovering from a back injury sustained in a car accident last week. He returned to the field Wednesday. The team is expected to name a starter Friday between Newton and former Brown Derek Anderson.

Colts CB Davis overcomes groin issue to practice Thursday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:02 pm ET) A groin ailment did not keep Colts cornerback Vontae Davis off the practice field Thursday.

Davis, who has four interceptions on the season, appears set to play in Dallas on Sunday.

Roddy White, Harry Douglas return to practice
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12:02 pm ET) Falcons receivers Roddy White (ankle) and Harry Douglas (foot) returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday, reports ESPN.com. With Julio Jones (hip) in danger of missing his second straight game Sunday at New Orleans, White and Douglas could be heavily targeted again.

White and Douglas combined for 17 catches on 24 targets for 189 yards and a touchdown Week 15 against Pittsburgh.

Sunday's game should be a shootout, as it carries the week's highest Over/Under at 56. The Falcons are 6-point underdogs at every major Vegas sportsbook.

Percy Harvin back in action Thursday for Jets
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:52 am ET) All-purpose Percy Harvin returned to Jets practice Thursday after missing the Wednesday session with an ankle ailment. He was returning kicks during the media availability portion.

He appears likely to play when the Jets host New England on Sunday.

Falcons WR Julio Jones not practicing Thursday
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11:47 am ET) Falcons receiver Julio Jones (hip) is not practicing Thursday for the second straight day, reports ESPN.com. Jones missed Week 15, and coach Mike Smith has said Jones' playing status won't be decided until Sunday morning.

If Jones sits out again, Harry Douglas would start opposite Roddy White at New Orleans. Douglas set season highs with 10 catches for 131 yards in the loss to the Steelers.

Ravens release TE Ogbuehi, sign RB Poole
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:29 am ET) The Ravens have released tight end Emmanuel Ogbuehi and signed running back Tauren Poole to their practice squad. Poole has one NFL rushing attempt and fumbled.

Redskins LT Trent Williams (shoulder) practicing Thursday
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11:23 am ET) Redskins left tackle Trent Williams participated in individual drills Thursday for the first time this week, reports the Washington Post. Williams has a strained shoulder, but is expected to play Saturday against the Eagles.

He's started all but one game this season.

Lions RT LaAdrian Waddle likely headed for surgery
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11:14 am ET) Lions coach Jim Caldwell said doctors are still evaluating the knee injury suffered by right tackle LaAdrian Waddle, but it appears he'll need surgery, reports the Detroit News. Waddle partially tore his right ACL, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The team placed him on IR and will go with undrafted rookie Cornelius Lucas on Sunday at Chicago.

Raiders QB Carr on Sparano: 'I love him to death'
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:52 am ET) Raiders rookie Derek Carr is hoping to play well in the last two games for his current coach and perhaps the coach of the future.

Carr has been a rare bright spot on a 2-12 team. He has played for the dismissed Dennis Allen and for current coach Tony Sparano. The Raiders are expected to make plenty of changes in the offseason, but Carr hopes Sparano is not a casualty.

"Right now, I am focused on playing my heart out for [Sparano] because I love him," Carr told ESPN. "I love him to death. I love playing for him. He pushes the heck out of me, and I love it. That's how I like to be coached. ... Not knowing [what the future holds] is hard, but I am grateful that I do get to play for him now."
