Browns S Whitner, Bills RB Jackson having war of words

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11/26/14) Running back Fred Jackson and former Bills teammate Donte Whitner, who now suits up as a starting strong safety for the Browns, have embarked on a war of words heading into the battle between the two teams Sunday.

Whitner tweeted this summer about the team's proposed move to Toronto, asking how Bills fans feel about it and following it up with an "LOL." Jackson hasn't been laughing out loud.

"If you talk down to anybody, you can't be respected," he said via ESPN. "That's just me, that's how I feel about it. For him to stay stuff like that, about people that we love in this organization, he'll never get my respect for that." Jackson also called Whitner "an idiot."

Whitner did not back off, claiming that his words could now have more of a purpose.

"[The Toronto Bills comment] wasn't excessive. It wasn't a joke. I knew that it would get to them. I knew it would ruffle a feather. If they're over there talking about this, maybe we are in their heads. Maybe I'm in their heads. Maybe. We don't know, but the goal is to go 1-0, the goal is to get them talking about things other than football, and I guess that's what they're doing."

Bills backfield situation becomes cloudier

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/25/14) Bills running back Fred Jackson saw his role return to normal in Week 12 against the Jets, and that shifted the dynamic of the backfield drastically Monday.

Jackson got 13 touches Monday, his highest total since before he suffered the groin injury in mid-October, and received some goal-line work too. He mostly split time in the backfield with Anthony Dixon, who rushed for 54 yards on 12 carries, including a touchdown, while Bryce Brown received just six carries for 20 yards and was held without a catch.

Jackson saw the field most out of the three, as he had 48 snaps, compared to 20 for Dixon and 15 for Brown. It seems like that might be the split moving forward, which will make both Brown and Dixon especially hard to rely on. Neither player showed much in Jackson's absence to make you want to start them anyways, so they are best left on the bench most weeks moving forward, with Dixon looking like just an emergency start at best.

Fred Jackson, Anthony Dixon leads Bills' backfield

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11/24/14) Bills running backs Fred Jackson and Anthony Dixon each received 13 touches in Monday's blowout of the Jets, while running back Bryce Brown got only six.

Returning from a groin injury, Jackson started and carried 10 times for 32 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He caught three of four targets for 13 yards.

Dixon took advantage of a demoralized Jets defense when he rumbled for a 30-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. He finished with 12 carries for 54 yards and added an 8-yard grab. Brown ran six times for 20 yards. He was not targeted in the passing game.

All three backs will face the Browns in Week 13.

Bills RB Fred Jackson active for game against Jets

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11/24/14) Bills running back Fred Jackson, who was questionable with a groin injury, is active for the game against the Jets in Detroit. Jackson sat out Week 11 and figures to share backfield duties Monday night with Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon.

Report: Bills expect running back Fred Jackson to play Monday

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(11/22/14) Despite being listed as questionable for Monday’s game against the Jets, Bills coach Doug Marrone said running back Fred Jackson (groin) is in the team’s game plan, according to ESPN.

"We're planning on him to be ready to go," Marrone said, per ESPN. "Just take the injury and that's how we have to list it to protect ourselves."
