Delanie Walker defends harsh words against teammates
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1/30/14) Titans tight end Delanie Walker has defended himself after creating a stir by claiming a group of teammates were "cancers" in 2013. He pointed out that he did not cite any individuals.

"I am not saying it was this dude, this dude or this dude," he told The Tennesseean. "I just threw a number out there. I really don't know. I felt like it was a couple of guys. To be honest, I think people are taking it way too far. There were no fights, guys weren't missing meetings. That stuff wasn't going on. The locker room atmosphere wasn't bad. Everyone came to work and did their part.

"What I am talking about mainly is the attitude after losses. After you lose three straight games, I just felt like there should be more dedication to getting better and we didn't have that sometimes. I felt guys could have worked harder."

Delanie Walker criticizes group of teammates
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1/29/14) Titans tight end Delanie Walker called out a group of teammates without naming names when assessing the struggles of his team in 2013. He said about six or seven players dragged the rest of the team down and became a "cancer."

"When we started losing more games, you got to see it more and more," Walker told radio station 104.5 The Zone. "It was falling apart and the players that were the cancer were dragging other players into that box with them and the box was getting bigger and bigger."

Walker added that those players proved most instrumental in the firing of coach Mike Munchak. He said new coach Ken Whisenhunt will realize who they are when he watches game film and will weed them out.

Hiring of Ken Whisenhunt should help Delanie Walker
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1/23/14) The hiring of former tight ends coach Ken Whisenhunt and offensive coordinator Jason Michael, who has served in the same capacity, should be a boon to Titans tight end Delanie Walker. Whisenhunt believes Walker can be a superstar.

Whiisenhunt compared Walker to prolific tight end Antonio Gates, with whom he worked this year as the Chargers offensive coordinator.

"I had a lot of respect for [Walker], so needless to say I'm excited that he's on this team and I'll have a chance to work with him," Whisenhunt told The Tennessean. "Working with (Gates) got me excited about the position, and I think there's a lot of elements to what Delanie does that are similar in that capacity."

Walker came on strong late in the season and finished with 60 catches for 571 yards and six touchdowns.

Delanie Walker solid in finale
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/29/13) Titans tight end Delanie Walker had another decent game in Week 17 against the Texans, to finish off his career-best season.

Walker was targeted three times in the passing game, hauling in all three passes for 29 yards in a 16-10 win. The game puts him at 60 receptions for 571 yards with six touchdowns for the season, by far the best totals of his career

Delani Walker could finish season strong
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/27/13) Titans tight end Delanie Walker has not topped 10.0 yards per catch in any of his last five games, but could fine some success in Week 17 against a Texans defense that has struggled with tight ends.

Opposing tight ends are averaging 14.1 yards per catch against the Texans, and are putting up 51.7 yards per game with nine touchdowns in 15 games. Walker was held to just one reception in a Week 2 matchup against the Texans, but made it count with his first touchdown of the season.

Walker is enjoying the best season of his career, as he enters Week 17 with 57 receptions for 542 yards and six touchdowns. He can be considered a solid Fantasy option for Sunday's game, given the matchup.
