Report: Ravens, Jimmy Smith agree to contract extension

|(4/21/15) The Ravens and cornerback Jimmy Smith have reportedly agreed on a contract extension, according to the Baltimore Sun. The extension is for four seasons, with $21 million guaranteed, according to ProFootballTalk.com.
Smith was entering the final year of his current contract with Baltimore. He totaled 28 tackles with one interception in eight games last season. In his first four season, Smith has played just one full year, playing 47 of a possible 64 games. He's totaled 140 tackles with five interceptions in those seasons.

|(3/23/15) Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith is still rehabbing his season-ending Lisfranc sprain to his left foot, but said he'll be ready for the start of training camp in late July, reports the team's official website.
"I have no doubt in my mind that I'll be back ready to go," Smith said. "Every day I grow a lot. Every day I feel good about the progress."
Smith has been able to walk without pain and recently increased his physical activities, but he admits the rehab process has been grueling.
"In the beginning, it was rough because of how much it hurt," Smith said. "When you get off [the boot], you have to rebuild all of those muscles and tendons, and everything is popping in there. It hurts."

|(2/2/15) A misdemeanor failure to obey charge against Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith has been dismissed.
Smith was arrested last July 12 for reasonable and lawful order of a law enforcement officer. Initially, a court date was slated for Feb. 17 before prosecutors decided not to move forward.
"Jimmy is thrilled to put this case behind him," Smith's attorney Warren Alperstein told The Baltimore Sun. "He remains fully focused on his recovery from his injury and looks forward to getting ready for next season."
Smith was alleged to have interfered with officers and emergency medical personnel that arrived at a Towson, Md. restaurant to tend to an intoxicated woman who is a friend of Smith’s. According to police, Smith declined to move out of the way because he said he was helping her.
Smith missed the latter half of the NFL season with a Lisfranc sprain. His season ended with 28 tackles and one interception.

|(1/13/15) Ravens coach John Harbaugh said starting cornerback Jimmy Smith, who suffered a season-ending foot injury Oct. 26, will start running in four weeks, reports ESPN.com. "He'll get a chance to get a full offseason in," Harbaugh said.
Smith played eight games, making 28 tackels, eight pass breakups and an interception.

|(11/20/14) Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith has confirmed that the issue that resulted in his placement on IR is a Lisfranc injury and that he will be out for about six months.
Smith added that he first believed the problem to be minor and that he was surprised it required surgery, per the Baltimore Sun.
