Bills WR Percy Harvin ready for big year
|by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer|
|(4/6/15) Bills wide receiver Percy Harvin is wasting no time predicting great things for himself and his new team, proclaiming after the team's first day of voluntary workouts Monday that "the best has yet to come," per ESPN.com.
Harvin, who was traded to the Jets from Seattle midway through the 2014 season and then signed with the Bills in the offseason, was eager to reunite with coach Rex Ryan despite a shaky quarterback situation.
"The world has not seen my best ball yet," Harvin said. "That's why coming in here was so important to me."
Harvin totaled 51 receptions for 483 yards last season with Seattle and New York.
Rex Ryan hopes Percy Harvin can take pressure off Sammy Watkins

|(3/23/15) With the Bills acquiring Percy Harvin, coach Rex Ryan said the acquisition will help the development of wide receiver Sammy Watkins, according to the team's official website.
"What we're trying to do is take a little pressure off Sammy Watkins," Ryan said. "You might recall last year Sammy got double almost every snap. You roll your coverage to him and all that. With a guy like Percy Harvin that's now going to be difficult to do. Percy can catch a slant and take it the distance and he can go over the top of you. He's a game breaker."
Ryan added that the offensive play-calling will be determined based on what the defense is doing.
"If you want to stop our run by keeping all the big guys in there then so be it, we'll have ways to hurt you outside," he said.
Percy Harvin's 3-year deal gives Bills cap relief in 2015
|(3/19/15) By signing Percy Harvin to a three-year contract and not the one-year deal as originally reported, the wide receiver's $3 million signing bonus can be prorated over the entire contract instead of just the one season, saving the Bills an expected $2 million of cap space in 2015, according to Bills Beat Blog.|
Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports.com reported that Harvin signed a three-year, $24 million contract with the final two seasons voidable. The $3 million signing bonus will be spread out over 2015, 2016 and 2017 at $1 million per year. If the Bills void the deal after the 2015 season, the $2 million in dead money would be applied to their 2016 salary cap.
If the Bills keep Harvin past 2015, however, their cap numbers would significantly increase. With only a $4 million cap hit for Harvin in 2015, the remaining $20 million for the final two years would have to be accounted for in 2016 and 2017.
Bills announce signing of WR Percy Harvin

|(3/18/15) The Bills announced they've signed wideout Percy Harvin. While the team did not disclose terms, reports indicate it's a one-year deal.
Harvin, 26, reunites with coach Rex Ryan after playing eight games for the Jets last season. Harvin is an explosive player but has just four receiving touchdowns since his career year in 2011.
Reports: Bills sign WR Percy Harvin to one-year deal

|(3/13/15) Percy Harvin will stay put in the AFC East -- at least for one more season.
The Bills have reached an agreement on a one-year deal with Harvin on Friday, reuniting Rex Ryan with the veteran wide receiver, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Alex Marvez of FOX Sports first reported the deal.
Harvin was cut by the Jets on Tuesday before travelling to Buffalo to meet with the former Jets coach. The Packers, Chargers, and Patriots were among other teams interested in his services this free agency period.
Harvin, 26, tallied 1,312 yards per scrimmage in 2011. He's totaled 1,475 yards per scrimmage from 2012-14. He racked up 483 receiving yards and a touchdown while playing for the Seahawks and Jets in 2014.
|Percy Harvin will be joining his fourth team since 2012 after he signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the Bills this offseason. Harvin was with the Vikings in 2012, the Seahawks in 2013 and then Seattle traded him to the Jets last year. He will now try to resurrect his career and Fantasy value in Buffalo, which isn't exactly known as a pass-happy offense. Still, Harvin has never needed a lot of touches to make his Fantasy value shine, but this is a lot to overcome, even for someone with his exceptional speed and play-making ability. He will be the No. 2 option in the passing game behind Sammy Watkins, but the Bills still have quarterback issues with EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel competing for the starting job. We have minimal expectations for Harvin after he combined for just 51 catches for 483 yards and one touchdown and 33 carries for 202 yards and one touchdown with the Jets and Seahawks last season. He will need to find his 2011 form (1,300 total yards and eight touchdowns) again for Fantasy owners to trust him, so at best he's worth just a late-round flier in the majority of leagues.
