(8/31/13) The Lions released safety Amari Spievey Saturday in an effort to reach a 53-man roster, the Detroit Free Press reports.
The 25-year-old Spievey played in five games last year for the Lions and made 21 tackles. He has one career sack and five interceptions.

|(2/22/13) Lions general manager Martin Mayhew was non-committal on defensive back Amari Spievey coming back to the team this season after suffering multiple concussions. "Yeah, I think it's just the total package of everything he's dealt with," Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said according to MLive.com. "He obviously was a good player for us when he was healthy, but we'll have to take a wait-and-see approach on that."
