|Report: Giants' interception leader has torn ACL |
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
(8/25/13) Giants starting free safety Stevie Brown, who led the team with eight interceptions last year, tore his ACL returning an interception in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. It's a devastating blow for the Giants, who likely will start Ryan Mundy in Brown's place.
Strong safety Antrel Rolle (ankle) did not play Saturday but is expected back for the season opener.

(8/24/13) Giants cornerback Stevie Brown intercepted a Geno Smith pass in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets. Unfortunately, he was injured on the return.
Brown injured his left knee and it did not appear to happen on the contact. He was immediately surrounded by coaches and trainers on the field before being carried to the locker room, the New York Daily News reports.
Brown, who could put any weight on his left leg, was diagnosed with a knee sprain. The initial news was positive, but he'll likely have an MRI Sunday.

(7/14/13) Giants safety Stevie Brown has spent the offseason strengthening his lower body to increase his burst because he admits there is still a level of discomfort having to cover slot receivers, according The Star-Ledger. He has also peppered Giants receiver Victor Cruz with questions and plans to work with Cruz during training camp to improve his coverage skills.
Though, some will argue Brown's cover skills are already solid after he intercepted eight passes in 2012. Still, Brown has no intentions to rest on his laurels.
"Now I have to field questions about 'Can you do it again?'" Brown said. "They want to know, 'Will you have 10 picks? Will you go to the Pro Bowl?' It’s definitely a different atmosphere now when I’m around."

(3/19/13) Giants safety Stevie Brown accepted a restricted free-agent tender Tuesday, putting him under contract for $2.0 million for the upcoming season. Brown earned a starting role for the Giants last season after Kenny Phillips suffered a knee injury, and he is expected to be a starter next season as well.
|Safety Brown gets second-round tender |
|by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(3/11/13) The Giants placed a second-round tender on safety Stevie Brown, likely keeping him with the team in 2013. Brown is allowed to negotiate with other teams until April 19, but the Giants have the right to match any offer or receive a second-round pick as compensation.
|Stevie Brown emerged as a quality Fantasy option for the Giants last year, and he will look to remain a viable option at defensive back this season. Brown had eight interceptions last year to go with 76 total tackles (64 solo), two fumble recoveries and 11 pass defenses. It's doubtful he'll post similar interception stats this season, but he's worth the gamble with a late-round pick in all IDP formats. (Updated 4/26/13) |
