|NaVorro Bowman begins sprinting |
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
(9/13/14) 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman began the sprinting portion of his ACL rehab this week, NFL.com reports.
"I must admit there's times when I look out of my peripheral vision and see them doing their workouts on the turf over there," head coach Jim Harbaugh said Friday. "It looked like he was moving pretty good, so that's very positive."
On the PUP while continuing to recover from his knee injury, Bowman may be able to return by Week 7 if his rehab continues to go smoothly. The 49ers play a tough road game in Denver that week. The team does have a bye the following week, so it may make sense to hold the All-Pro linebacker out until Week 9 if he's not 100 percent after his mandatory six weeks on PUP are up.

(8/25/14) The 49ers have officially placed linebacker NaVorro Bowman on the Physically Unable to Perform list, ESPN reports. Bowman will be ineligible to play in the team's first six regular-season games as he continues to recover from a torn ACL.

(7/23/14) As expected, the 49ers put All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman on the PUP list. Bowman suffered a torn ACL and MCL in the NFC Championship Game and is not expected to return until midseason.
|NaVorro Bowman could return Week 9 |
|by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(7/21/14) 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman (ACL recovery) is expected to go on the physically unable to perform list when he reports to camp this week, reports the Sacramento Bee.
The report says the "smart money on his return is after the team's Week 8 bye." Bowman injured his knee in the NFC Championship Game against Seattle.
|Niners restructure NaVorro Bowman's deal |
|by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(5/22/14) 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman restructured his deal with the team, converting over $3 million of his salary into a signing bonus, creating over $2.6 million in cap space.
Bowman expects to not play until the middle of the 2014 season after tearing his ACL and MCL in the NFC title game back in January.
ESPN thinks the cap space might have been made to give Colin Kaepernick a rich contract extension.

2014 Preseason All-Prisco Team: Assembling the best of the best
What do LeSean McCoy, Aaron Rodgers and J.J. Watt have in common? All are the best at their positions, which earns them a spot on the Preseason All-Prisco Team.
Tom Brady, not Peyton Manning, tops preseason All-Kirwan Team at QB
Tom Brady does more with less than any other QB in the NFL, so he gets the nod as the top quarterback. Jimmy Graham, fresh off a new contract, is the tight end.
49ers training camp: Kaepernick, air game key to catching Seahawks
If the 49ers can throw the ball better (Colin Kaepernick), get past Seattle (stopping Marshawn Lynch for a change) and avoid distractions (Jim Harbaugh's situation), a Super Bowl is possible.
|NaVorro Bowman was the No. 1 defensive player in IDP leagues in 2013, but he suffered a tough knee injury in the playoff loss to Seattle, which could keep him out until the middle of the season. Bowman had a career season in 2013 with 145 tackles (120 solo), five sacks, two interceptions and nine pass defenses. He also added one defensive touchdown and two fumble recoveries. This is now three years in a row with 140-plus tackles, but Bowman will see that streak end depending on when he can return to the field. We would still gamble on Bowman with a late-round pick in IDP leagues. He might miss the start of the year, but when he returns he should continue to play at a high level if his knee is 100 percent.
