| Sam Bradford off to good start |
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer (6/19/13) Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer likes what he sees from quarterback Sam Bradford this offseason.
ESPN reports that Bradford will work with Schottenheimer for a second consecutive season, which is the first time that's happened in his young career.
"The day Sam walked back into the building [this offseason] we started making adjustments," Schottenheimer said. "We are a thousand years ahead of where we were last year."

| Bradford accepts change |
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer (6/7/13) Things are changing for Rams quarterback Sam Bradford this season. He has new targets in Jared Cook, Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey, and workhorse running back Steven Jackson is gone. That means adjustments, and Bradford is open to the changes. On the new receivers, Bradford said, A lot of it is just timing. Everyone has different steps, different speeds. They see things and anticipate things differently. I think the biggest thing is just getting on the same page how they see the route and how they want to run the route. Then also myself having some input on how I believe it should be run and where the ball should be caught. Its just getting all that timing and steps down. And on the changes in offense, he said, "I think if you look at the speed we have now compared to the speed weve had in past years, we have significantly more speed this year. Obviously with Steven gone, we dont have a big, physical running back. I dont know if it means if were going to throw the ball more. Id be fine with that. I would definitely think wed probably move more to the one back world, spread people out. I think thats probably the direction were going.

| Bradford comfortable with offense |
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer (5/23/13) Rams quarterback Sam Bradford might be enjoying this offseason more than any other. For the first time in his career, Bradford will finally have the same offensive coordinator and same offensive scheme under Brian Schottenheimer, which makes things easier. "Amazing. Like I said, it just feels so much better knowing the details of this offense and actually having the ability to go over and coach our young guys," Bradford said Thursday during OTA workouts. "When youre trying to learn an offense for the first time, its really hard to go over and coach some of the young guys because youre still trying to figure everything out, too. You dont know the exact details. You watch it on film from how someone else runs it, so you think you have an idea how you want it run, but until you actually get out there and rep it multiple times, you really dont have that feel. Now obviously we had the opportunity to go back and watch all our cutups from last year, all the concepts that we had success with, all the concepts that we struggled with. We talked about the areas that we need to be improved, the things that we need to do, and I can take all those points from those meetings."

| Bradford gets new weapon |
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer (4/25/13) The Rams made a bold move in the NFL Draft Thursday night by trading up in the first round to select West Virginia receiver Tavon Austin at No. 8 overall. That should make quarterback Sam Bradford happy. Austin will help the Rams replace the departed Danny Amendola, except Austin is a much more explosive player.

| Bradford stays in same system |
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer (1/18/13) The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer coming back to the Rams in 2013, that bodes well for quarterback Sam Bradford. With the return of Schottenheimer, Bradford will have the same coordinator and same offensive scheme in back-to-back seasons for the first time in his NFL career. Bradford went from Pat Shurmur and a West Coast scheme in 2010, to Josh McDaniels and more of a deep-passing approach in 2011, to Schottenheimer and something in-between in 2012. Traditionally, it means quite a bit just because you hit the ground running, Schottenheimer said. In this day and age where youve got limited opportunities to meet and to work, I think it can mean great things."

| For the first time in his career, Sam Bradford will finally have some semblance of continuity. That's because he'll have the same offensive coordinator and same offensive scheme for the first time under Brian Schottenheimer. Bradford went from Pat Shurmur and a West Coast scheme in 2010, to Josh McDaniels and more of a deep-passing approach in 2011, to Schottenheimer and something in-between in 2012. The good news is Bradford is coming off a career year last season with 3,702 yards, 21 touchdowns and 13 interceptions and 37 carries for 127 yards and one touchdown. The bad news is that despite those stats he was still just the No. 18 Fantasy quarterback in a standard league, and he managed just five games with at least 18 Fantasy points. This offseason, the Rams revamped their offense. Steven Jackson, Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson are gone as free agents, and the Rams replaced them with free agent tight end Jared Cook and rookies Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey and Zac Stacy. We'll find out if it was an upgrade or not, but Bradford is now the focal point on offense. He should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy quarterback with upside. He's not worth drafting in most leagues, but Bradford could emerge as a bye-week replacement if things go his way. (Updated 5/15/13) |
