Steelers sign some interesting players: The Steelers signed six players to reserve/future contracts Friday, with some intriguing names joining the roster. QB Troy Smith and WR Derrick Williams are two notable players, each of whom played elsewhere in the league. Smith started a handful of games just last year with the Niners and spent some time as a backup in Baltimore. Williams, a former Penn State player, was originally a draft choice of the Lions. Others signed are CB Walter McFadden, WR Tyler Beiler, WR David Gilreath and WR Jimmy Young.
