|Colin Kaepernick close to 80 percent completion rate in loss |
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
(9/21/14) 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick completed 78.4 percent of his passes Sunday at Arizona, but San Francisco was shutout in the second half and the Cardinals rallied for a 23-14 win. Kaepernick completed 29 of 37 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown, while rushing for a team-high 54 yards on 13 carries.
Kaepernick had a very productive first half, completing 14 of 18 passes for 116 yards. He threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree on the team's opening drive. Kaepernick had 45 rushing yards by halftime.
He didn't throw an interception or lose a fumble, and he was sacked just once in the loss. The 49ers are back in action Week 4 vs. Philadelphia.
|49ers list lengthy injury report for Week 3 |
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
(9/19/14) The 49ers have nine players listed on the injury report for Week 3. Center Marcus Martin, who's nursing an knee injury, was the only player ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Deemed questionable are cornerback Tramaine Brock (toe), tackle Anthony Davis (hamstring), tight end Vernon Davis (ankle) and tight end Vance McDonald (knee).
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick (back), running back Carlos Hyde (calf), defensive end Justin Smith (not injury related) and tackle Joe Staley (knee) were ruled probable for Sunday.

(9/18/14) San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick is dealing with a back issue.
Kaepernick was able to practice in full Thursday, but was listed on the injury report with a back injury. The injury doesn't seem too serious, and Kaepernick should play Week 3.
|Colin Kaepernick a bust alert in Week 3 |
|by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(9/18/14) 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick might be in line for a bad game in Week 3 at Arizona, and he's a bust candidate this week.
The 49ers would love to forget the first game in Levi's Stadium, especially Kaepernick. He passed for 248 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 66 yards, but he also had three interceptions and lost a fumble in a loss against the Bears.
He could always rebound this week against the Cardinals, and he has at least 250 passing yards and two touchdowns in each of his three career meetings with Arizona. But the Cardinals have done a nice job with their pass defense to open the season in containing Philip Rivers and Eli Manning, and the 49ers could be without Vernon Davis (ankle).
That would leave Kaepernick vulnerable, and another poor outing is possible on the road. He is not a Top 12 quarterback heading into this week.

|Colin Kaepernick craters with four turnovers |
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
(9/15/14) 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick turned in a careless performance Week 2 vs. the Bears. Kaepernick threw three interceptions, including one throw across his body into traffic, and lost a fumble.
He completed 21 of 34 throws for 248 yards and a touchdown and ran nine times for 66 yards.
Things started well for Kaepernick, who tossed a 3-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree less than three minutes in. But he lost tight end Vernon Davis to an ankle injury in the second half and the offense bogged down. Kaepernick was picked off twice in the fourth quarter by rookie cornerback Kyle Fuller as the Bears stormed back to win 28-20.
Kaepernick will try to bounce back Week 3 at Arizona.
|Colin Kaepernick is poised for a breakout season this year, and we like him as a potential Top 5 Fantasy quarterback. He finally has all of his receivers healthy. His first season as a full-time starter had mixed results in 2013, as expected. He started the season without Michael Crabtree (Achilles), and he struggled with just five games with at least 19 Fantasy points during the 12 games Crabtree was out. He then closed the season, including the playoffs, with seven of eight games with at least 19 Fantasy points when Crabtree was active. Also, when Kaepernick is aggressive running the ball, his Fantasy production is clearly higher. He had at least seven Fantasy points on the ground in four of his final five games, and if that happens consistently this year his value will be incredible. With Crabtree, Anquan Boldin, Vernon Davis and Quinton Patton, along with the addition of Steve Johnson from Buffalo and rookie Bruce Ellington, Kaepernick has plenty of weapons, including his legs. He should be drafted as early as Round 4 as a No. 1 Fantasy quarterback in all leagues.
