Seahawks' Carroll: Chancellor won't need offseason surgery

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2/20/15) Seahawks coach Pete Carroll reiterated that safety Kam Chancellor is "going to be fine" and that he will not need offseason surgery -- much like secondary-mate Richard Sherman, according to the Tacome News Tribune.

Chancellor suffered a deep bone bruise and a tear in his medial collateral ligament in practice days before Super Bowl 49 against New England. Last season, he totaled 78 tackles in 2014 with one interception and one forced fumble in 14 games. It remains to be seen if Chancellor will be ready for Seattle's offseason workout programs.

Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor receives guaranteed contract

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2/7/15) Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor's contract for 2015, valued at $4.55 million, became guaranteed Saturday for $4.45 million, according to CBSSports.com's Joel Corry.

Chancellor, who will also earn a $1 million signing bonus, is under contract with Seattle through 2017, where he will earn a base salary of $6.8 million. He totaled 78 tackles in 2014 with one interception and one forced fumble in 14 games. In five seasons with the Seahawks, Chancellor has totaled 398 tackles with eight interceptions.

Kam Chancellor played with MCL tear, deep bone bruise

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(2/4/15) Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor told the team's website the knee injury he suffered in practice two days before the Super Bowl was a deep bone bruise and a tear in his medial collateral ligament.

“It’s not a matter of talking about being injured and playing, it’s about being grateful for getting the opportunity to still even play through the injury,” said Chancellor, who made 10 tackles, one for loss, in the 28-24 defeat to the Patriots.

“There are some people that get injured and can’t even play this game, can’t even play a game. So you’ve got to be grateful for how you’re feeling at the moment. Shoot, my injury happened two days before the game and they told me I wasn’t going to be able to play. They told me, ‘Torn MCL and bone bruise.’ I was mad. I was frustrated. But at the end of the day, I was able to play.”

Chancellor credited his teammates with helping him play through the injury, which might require offseason surgery.

“My teammates came to me, they prayed with me,” he said. “That’s when it hit me: Why am I mad? I’ve got to be grateful for how I’m feeling right now. There are some people out there worse than me. I could have had a broken knee and not been able to play. So I just prayed for health and happiness. I prayed for peace and just to be able to make it to the game and play as much as I could for my teammates.”

Sherman, Chancellor, Thomas all set to play in Super Bowl Sunday

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2/1/15) The Seahawks secondary starters are all active for Sunday's Super Bowl, the team announced. Cornerback Richard Sherman (elbow) and safeties Earl Thomas (shoulder) and Kam Chancellor (knee) are all active for Sunday after being listed as probable for the contest throughout the week.

Running back Marshawn Lynch (back) is also set to play after being listed as probable.

The game is currently pick'em between Seattle and New England.

Seahawks' Kam Chancellor participates in Saturday walkthrough

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1/31/15) Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor injured his knee late in Friday's practice but was well enough to participate in Saturday's walkthrough for Super Bowl XLIX, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports.

Coach Pete Carroll indicated optimism that Chancellor, who is considered probable to play Sunday, would be cleared to participate in the Super Bowl, per the Seahawks' pool report.

"He looked pretty good today," Carroll said. "We will make sure we test him in pregame, but he remarkably looked great today, and so that’s all we have to go on."

Chancellor is one of six Seattle players listed as probable to play in Sunday's game.
