Cowboys DE Greg Hardy appeals 10-game suspension

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(5/28/15) Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy and his representatives made an appearance in Washington D.C. this morning to argue in favor of reducing or overturning his 10-game suspension, per The Dallas Morning News.

Dallas, which doesn't play any role in the appeal process, is supporting its player from a far.

“No real comment beyond just supporting him,’’ head coach Jason Garrett said. “This is part of the process that he’s going to go through in appealing this suspension. He and his representatives will handle it as well as they can and we’ll see what happens.

“The biggest thing is to handle it the right way. We’re going to try to handle it the right way as an organization and we expect him to handle it the right way as an individual player."

A judge found Hardy guilty of domestic violence in July of 2014 and sentenced him to 18 months probation after suspending a 60-day jail sentence.

Hardy and his reps will argue that he was found not guilty in the eyes of the law, and that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's punishment -- 10-game suspension -- was excessive compared to what was outlined in the personal conduct policy -- two-game suspension -- at the time of the incident involving his former girlfriend.

The NFL's investigation at the time concluded that Hardy's actions "constitutes a significant act of violence in violation of the Personal Conduct Policy.”

Report: Cowboys DE Greg Hardy will miss OTA for hearing

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5/26/15) Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy will skip the OTA Thursday for his appeal hearing, a source has told the Dallas Morning News.

Hardy has been suspended for 10 games as a result of his arrest on domestic abuse charges. The resulting two-month investigation by the NFL "determined that there was sufficient credible evidence that Hardy engaged in conduct that violated NFL policies in multiple respects and with aggravating circumstances."

The decision by the NFL concluded that Hardy used physical force against former girlfriend Nicole Holder and in four instances placed his hands around her neck with enough force to leave visible marks. It also claimed he shoved her against a wall and threw her on a futon with at least four semi-automatic rifles.

It remains to be determined if Hardy can get his suspension reduced.

Cowboys DE Greg Hardy's appeal to be heard May 28

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(5/7/15) Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy , who was suspended for 10 games by the NFL after his arrest on domestic abuse charges, will have an appeal hearing on May 28, per The Washington Post

Arbitrator Harold Henderson, a former NFL executive who is also involved in the Adrian Peterson appeal process, will hear the case, where the NFL Players Association is expected to claim that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell applied the discipline retroactively under the new personal conduct policy, which was not enacted until December - seven months after Hardy was arrested.

Goodell, however, has claimed that the suspension is identical to what it would have been under the old policy for conduct detrimental to the league.

Hardy, who signed an incentive-enhanced one-year deal with Dallas in March, could lose as much as $5.8 million if the suspension stands.

Report: NFLPA appeals Greg Hardy suspension

(4/27/15) The NFL Players Association has appealed the 10-game suspension of Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy, per the Charlotte Observer.

The union is expected to claim that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell applied the discipline retroactively under the new personal conduct policy, which was not enacted until December - seven months after Hardy was arrested on domestic violence charges.

Goodell, however, has claimed that the suspension is identical to what it would have been under the old policy for conduct detrimental to the league.

Hardy, who signed an incentive-enhanced one-year deal with Dallas in March, could lose as much as $5.8 million if the suspension stands.

Cowboys' Greg Hardy called 'woman beater' by teammate

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(4/24/15) Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy got into an altercation with teammate Davon Coleman during a voluntary offseason workout, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports

Hardy reportedly questioned Coleman's work ethic during a conditioning drill, which led Coleman to call Hardy a "woman beater."

Hardy was accused of domestic abuse and was found guilty by a North Carolina judge. On the subsequent appeal, prosecutors dropped charges against Hardy and the case was never presented in front of a jury.

Hardy has been suspended by the NFL for 10 games due to what transpired in that case. According to FOX Sports, the confrontation between Hardy and Coleman remained verbal
