Preseason Outlook

Boss ready for big season: Giants TE Kevin Boss is looking forward to this season. After a recent OTA workout, Boss said this in Newsday: "It's great to be back out on the field. The way last season ended left a bad taste in our mouths. It's good to start working toward the new season."

Fantasy Analysis

Boss has high expectations this season with the Giants missing Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer on the roster. He had high expectations last year also trying to replace Jeremy Shockey. We like Boss to step up his game this season. Last year, he had 33 catches for 384 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season. He should improve on those stats this year, and he's worth drafting as a borderline No. 1 Fantasy option with a mid-round pick.

2009 Fantasy outlooks: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Kevin Boss took a big step forward in 2008, ultimately replacing Jeremy Shockey in the Giants offense and providing a quality target for Eli Manning. Starting 15 games, Boss got more involved in the second half of the season and caught 33 passes for 384 yards (11.6 avg.) with six touchdowns, a solid improvement over his rookie season. In his final eight games, he had 23 grabs for 266 yards (11.5 avg.) and four scores. That's a fair production level to expect over the course of the 2009 season, his third in the NFL. We like Boss a lot as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE worth a middle- to late-round pick once the first- and second-tier tight ends are off the draft board. He's a definite sleeper this year.
