|Cowboys make change at weakside linebacker |
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
(10/3/13) Cowboys linebacker Ernie Sims said he will start at weakside linebacker Week 5 vs. Denver, replacing Bruce Carter in the starting lineup, according to The Dallas Morning News.
"For right now, they have got me splitting reps with Bruce," Sims said. "The way I see it right now I am a starter. I feel like I will play the whole game and do good at it."
Carter struggled against the pass in Week 4 at San Diego as eight of the nine passes thrown in his vicinity were completed for 94 yards, according to ProFootballFocus.com.
"I definitely want to play," Carter said. "I don’t take nothing away from [Sims]. Ernie is my guy. I love him like a brother. I want to go out there just as much as he does, but if they feel like, I don’t know, it’s out of my hands, I’ll say that."
|Bruce Carter says he's healthy following rehab for a dislocated elbow suffered last Thanksgiving. Carter produced moderate tackle totals last season, his second in the league. He's expected to move to the weakside linebacker spot in the Cowboys 4-3 defense led by Monte Kiffin. That should open him up for some pretty good numbers as weakside linebackers typically do well in the scheme. Carter's worth a late-round look in drafts this summer. (Updated 5/9/13) |
