Broyles surprise of offseason
by Jamey Eisenberg \| Senior Fantasy Writer (6/17/13) The Lions official team website reports that the biggest surprise of the offseason was receiver Ryan Broyles. Broyles participated fully in minicamp despite the fact that he's less than six months removed from ACL surgery. The report says "he wasn't just out there running around. He was making plays across the middle of the field and really looked good." Broyles is still not 100 percent, but "he is poised for a breakout season."

Broyles penciled in the slot?
by Dave Richard \| Senior Fantasy Writer (6/13/13) Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan referred to receiver Ryan Broyles as his slot receiver when speaking to the media on Wednesday. "You've got a slot receiver that was coming on real good for us," Linehan said of Broyles. "You’re going to use the slot receiver not just for the pass game, but also, it helps the pass game and he can also get in those formations to run the football. So, those are the things we try to do and when you have your depth back where you want it, it certainly helps. ... He’s made a lot of progress, he’s out there now and I don’t see any reason why he’s not going to continue with that progress."

Broyles back early from torn ACL
by Dave Richard \| Senior Fantasy Writer (6/11/13) Ryan Broyles did some work in team drills on Tuesday as the Lions opened a three-day minicamp, a surprising turn of events considering he's working his way back from a torn ACL suffered last December. Per the official team website Broyles lined up in the slot a couple of times and hauled in passes while running crossing routes. "He's had a great rehab," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "He's working really hard. He's done a little bit more each time and he's really the only one of that group that's on a long-term rehab. It's been a long time for him, second year in a row with an ACL. But, you know, every time he's gone out on the field he's made plays and he did the same thing today. He's still not 100 percent but he's able to sort of pick and choose some spots in practice and he looked good."

Broyles 'making good progress'
by Dave Richard \| Senior Fantasy Writer (5/29/13) Lions coach Jim Schwartz said receiver Ryan Broyles is "making good progress" in his recovery from a torn ACL. Broyles is currently recovering from his second ACL injury in two seasons. "He’s working through. He’s almost in the same position he’s in last year with the exception that he knows the offense, he had a little bit of experience last year, he had some play time and he made some plays for us so it’s just a matter of getting healthy," Schwartz said. "Where last year he was trying to get healthy and also trying to learn a playbook and try to sort of earn his way onto the team. He’s in a little bit different situation; he’s just trying to get healthy. He’s doing a little bit more each day, but we’ll probably be into training camp before we really see anything from him."

Broyles could have breakout year
by Jamey Eisenberg \| Senior Fantasy Writer (5/20/13) According to mlive.com, Lions receiver Ryan Broyles could be in line for a breakout season. The report says that Broyles had 349 receptions, 4,586 receiving yards and 45 touchdowns in college, so it is just a matter of time before his talent kicks in with the Lions. Broyles is currently recovering from his second ACL injury in two seasons. Detroit did not add a receiver early this offseason, which means the Lions must be comfortable with Broyles' progress.
