Hunter looks like third-down back: While there was some speculation that the 49ers would enter the season with Kendall Hunter backing up Frank Gore, it turns out that the team had other plans. The 49ers signed running back Brandon Jacobs to a deal, providing a quality "big man" to back up Gore. That could mean that Hunter ends up filling a third-down role regardless of whether or not Gore is able to play at any point during the season.

Hunter might actually fall off of standard draft boards with the arrival of Jacobs. He still has some nominal value in PPR leagues and formats that reward special-teams yardage, but is a late-round pick at best.
