Dolphins Joe Philbin excited about WR Kenny Stills and TE Jordan Cameron

by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com
(3/24/15) Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin is excited about the overhaul of the receiving corps, notably the additions of tight end Jordan Cameron and wide receiver Kenny Stills, according to the team's official website.

Philbin started off by complimenting Cameron.

“I would say the one thing that (Cameron brings)?would be big skill if I can just throw out that term,”?Philbin said. “He’s a little bit bigger than the tight ends we’ve had. He still runs very very well. I think that’s maybe a little bit of a different dimension. I think the down the middle of the field potentially you might see us attack the middle of the field a hair more. We’re excited about him.”

The head coach went on to talk about how Stills fit into the Dolphins' offense.

“We thought he was a really good scheme fit in our offense,”?Philbin said. “I thought he had good production. A couple of things that stood out, we kind of a did a study of receivers in the league that had at least 50 catches and one of the things we liked about him, I think he was targeted about 84 times and I think he had 63 receptions. So he was second, I believe, in the league in terms of, if you throw him the ball, he’s going to catch it. We liked the fact that, when the quarterbacks threw him the ball, a high percentage of the time there were completed passes. That was one thing. We thought he was productive on third down. Statistically, conversions on third down. He fit what we do. I thought he’s a good route runner. He has good hands. His speed is good. I thought schematically he was a good fit.”

Jordan Cameron: Tannehill was 'big part of my decision' to join Dolphins

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(3/13/15) Jordan Cameron chose Miami over Cleveland, and he revealed that his decision was based on the opportunity to play with quarterback Ryan Tannehill, according to the Dolphins' official website on Thursday.

"He's young and he's willing to work," Cameron said. "He puts the hours in. They were singing his praises all day today. It was definitely a big part of my decision."

Cameron was at Miami's facility negotiating on a new deal on Thursday before reports surfaced that he agreed to terms to a two-year, $15 million deal with the Browns. The Dolphins swooped back in the running and signed him to a similar deal, with only $5 million of his $15 million being reportedly guaranteed, per the Palm Beach Post

Cameron, 26, has spent all four of his years in the NFL with the Browns, but has had injury issues, suffering three concussion in as many seasons, missing time with each injury. He totaled 130 catches for 1,600 yards and 10 touchdowns during his four-year run with the Browns.

Cameron and the Dolphins aren't too concerned about his concussion history.

"If it was a concern for me, I wouldn't be here right now," Cameron said, per the Miami Herald. "I've seen a lot of specialists and talked to a lot of people. It's clear. My baseline is the same as it was six years ago. I don't have any cause for concern on my end and the Dolphins felt the same."

TE Jordan Cameron signs with Dolphins

(3/12/15) Tight end Jordan Cameron has signed a contract with the Dolphins, reports CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Details of the contract have yet to be disclosed.

Reports earlier stated that Cameron had re-signed with the Browns. That was not the case as a deal was not finalized. Now the 26-year-old will become a member of the Dolphins.

Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey praised Cameron on Thursday.

"He is a young, proven Pro Bowl performer," Hickey said, "with playmaking ability that will positively impact our team."

Dolphins still in the mix for TE Jordan Cameron

(3/12/15) After reports said that tight end Jordan Cameron had signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the Browns, the Dolphins are actually negotiating a deal with him, according to CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora.

Cameron has spent all four of his years in the NFL with the Browns, totaling 130 catches for 1,600 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Report: Browns sign TE Jordan Cameron

(3/12/15) Tight end Jordan Cameron has signed a two-year, $15 million contract to remain with the Browns, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Cameron was visiting with the Dolphins on Wednesday, but the Browns decided to make the tight end an offer that he couldn't refuse. Selected in the fourth round of the 2011 draft, he has recorded 130 receptions for 1,600 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The 26-year-old was limited to 10 games last year due to concussion and shoulder issues.
