Seahawks' Doug Baldwin apologizes for Super Bowl penalty

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(2/17/15) Seahawks wideout Doug Baldwin apologized to the team's fans for picking up a 15-yard penalty in Super Bowl 49, according to the Seattle Times

Baldwin appeared on a local radio show on Monday, and said he made a mistake in the moment. "In that moment it was just a reaction," Baldwin said. "So obviously if I could go back, I would take it back."

Baldwin admitted his actions, which picked up the penalty, were directed at opposing cornerback Darrelle Revis. "There was competitive stuff going on in that game and in that moment I just let out what I felt personally," Baldwin said. He also admitted he was frustrated by his lack of opportunities during the game.

Seahawks' Doug Baldwin earns fully guaranteed contract for 2015

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2/7/15) Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin's 2015 contract, worth $2.8 million, became guaranteed for $2.3 million Saturday, according to CBSSports.com's Joel Corry. Baldwin also will receive a $1.6 million signing bonus.

Baldwin is under contract with Seattle through 2016, when he is scheduled to make $4 million with a $1.6 million signing bonus. In his four seasons with the Seahawks, Baldwin has totaled 196 catches for 2,757 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Report: Doug Baldwin fined for Super Bowl celebration

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(2/4/15) Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin has been fined for his controversial celebration following a touchdown in the Super Bowl, according to FOX Sports.

The fine is the league minimum allowed for such a penalty at $11,025. After scoring, Baldwin put the ball on the ground, squatted over it and pretended to relieve himself over it. NBC cameras showing the celebration quickly cut away once producers realized what was going on.

After the game, a 28-24 Patriots win, Baldwin told reporters that the celebration was directed at a group of people. He would not name who.

Seahawks' Doug Baldwin questions team's final play

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(2/1/15) Seahawks wideout Doug Baldwin questioned the team's final play during Super Bowl 49, according to ESPN.

With the ball on the one yard line, Seattle opted to pass instead of hand the ball to Marshawn Lynch. The pass would result in an interception, clinching the game for the Patriots. The playcall caused some Seahawks to question the decision. "I think we all were surprised," Baldwin said. "We still had a timeout and felt we should take a shot. I don’t know, man. I’m just trying to make up an explanation."

Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said he made the call, though head coach Pete Carroll also took the blame for the play during the postgame. Carroll told reporters, "It was not the right matchup for us to run the football. We threw the ball to kind of waste that play. The guy made a great play that no one thought he could do."

Baldwin was allegedly not the only player on the club to question the final play of the game.

Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin gets 106 yards in win

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(1/18/15) Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin caught six passes for 106 yards in Seattle's 28-22 win over the Packers to send them to the Super Bowl.

Baldwin, who was targeted nine times, caught his biggest pass of the day in overtime when quarterback Russell Wilson found him down the field for a 35-yard gain. The play set up Wilson to found Jermaine Kearse for the game-winning touchdown.

It was Baldwin's second career playoff game with at least 100 receiving yards.
