Doug Baldwin takes advantage of injury

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/22/14) Wide receiver Doug Baldwin hasn't emerged as the Seahawks' clear No. 1 as Fantasy owners had hoped after the team shipped Percy Harvin to the Jets, sometimes taking a back seat to Jermaine Kearse. But after Kearse left early Week 16 at Arizona with a hamstring injury, Baldwin didn't have as much competition for looks, catching seven passes for 113 yards on a season-high 11 targets.

It was his second game in three with more than 90 yards, but it was also just his second in eight with more than 60, to give you some idea how much Kearse has interfered with his production.

Also helping Baldwin in this one was the fact that quarterback Russell Wilson threw for a season-high 339 yards. In the Seahawks' inconsistent passing attack, you couldn't count on Baldwin for consistent production even if he was the clear No. 1.

Still, if Kearse is out for Week 17 against St. Louis, Baldwin deserves a longer look in Fantasy, particularly in leagues that require three wide receivers.

Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin goes over 100 yards Week 16

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/22/14) Seahawks wideout Doug Baldwin went over 100 yards Week 16 against the Cardinals.

Baldwin hauled in a team-high seven catches for 113 yards. Baldwin was quarterback Russell Wilson's favorite option during the contest, receiving 11 targets. While Baldwin didn't lead the team in yardage, he was Wilson's most consistent target. It was Baldwin's first 100 yard game since Week 6.

Baldwin will look for more Week 17 against the Rams.

Seahawks' Doug Baldwin finds the end zone Week 14

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/7/14) Seahawks wideout Doug Baldwin managed to find the end zone Week 14 against the Eagles.

Baldwin showed off his deep-play ability, averaging 19.4 yards per catch. He finished with five receptions for 97 yards. Baldwin's score came in the fourth quarter. With Seattle up by three, Russell Wilson found Baldwin on a 23 yard touchdown reception to open up the lead. That was all the Seahawks would need, as the Eagles did not score again. Baldwin tied for the team lead in targets with seven.

He'll take on the 49ers Week 15.

Seahawks' pass catchers limited by light workload in Week 13

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/27/14) Seahawks tight end Tony Moeaki led his offense with 63 receiving yards on just one reception in his team's 19-3 win over the 49ers in Week 13.

Moeaki caught a pass of about 12 yards near the sideline early in the second quarter and ran past his defender to bring the ball all the way down to the one-yard line before being caught. The Seahawks weren't able to punch the ball into the end zone on the drive, but a dominant performance by the defense meant the points left on the board wouldn't come back to haunt the offense.

The rest of the receiving corps didn't have much of a workload in the win Thursday, with quarterback Russell Wilson completing just 15 passes on 22 attempts. Tight end Luke Willson led the Seahawks with four receptions and six targets, gaining just 39 yards in the game. Wide receiver Jermaine Kearse managed three receptions for 34 yards, while wide receiver Doug Baldwin could only haul in two passes for 28 yards. Rookie Paul Richardson was able to catch his only target for six yards.

The Seahawks have a trip to Philadelphia on the schedule in Week 14.

Doug Baldwin showing his limitations

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11/24/14) When the Seahawks traded wide receiver Percy Harvin to the Jets prior to Week 7, the natural assumption was that Doug Baldwin would inherit a lot of his looks. And that's exactly what happened that first week at St. Louis, when Baldwin caught seven passes for 123 yards and a touchdown.

But his numbers have steadily waned since that season-best performance. He hit a new low Week 12 against Arizona, catching just two passes for 6 yards. Worse yet, those were his only two targets on the day.

Baldwin has had less than 50 receiving yards in four straight games, averaging 4.3 catches for 30.0 yards during that stretch. The good news is no other Seahawks wide receiver has really stepped up during that time. The bad news is quarterback Russell Wilson has averaged just 185.0 passing yards and has done his best to divide it between as many targets as possible.

Because he's the most notable player in the Seahawks receiving corps, Baldwin is still capable of delivering a big game, but with the direction the Seahawks offense has taken in recent weeks, you should no longer expect it, not even when he has a favorable matchup. His matchup couldn't be any less favorable Week 13 at San Francisco.
