Broncos' Peyton Manning throws four touchdowns to beat Miami
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(11/23/14) Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning lit up the Dolphins to lead the Broncos to a 39-36 win Sunday.
Manning started off slow, but finished 28 of 35 for 257 yards and four touchdowns. Without Julius Thomas, Manning turned to Demaryius Thomas as his red zone target with the pair hooking up on three scores. He also connected with Wes Welker for a late game touchdown. It was Manning’s fourth game of the season throwing at least four touchdown passes. Manning did not throw an interception for the first time since Week 8.
The Broncos next play Sunday at Kansas City.
Broncos QB Manning has rare dud in St. Louis
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(11/16/14) Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has enjoyed many memorable games in his brilliant career, but his performance Sunday in St. Louis wasn't one of them.
It's not often a quarterback leads his team to just seven points and still throws for 389 yards, but Manning did just that in Week 11. He completed 34 of 54 passes and just one touchdown - a 42-yard strike to a wide-open Emmanuel Sanders late in the second quarter. The Broncos were shut out in the second half for the first time since 2009.
Manning, who did exceed 3,000 yards on the year for the 16th time, also threw two interceptions and was uncharacteristically inaccurate on several throws. He will try to regroup next Sunday when the team returns home to face Miami.
Report: Broncos planning for Peyton Manning to play in 2015
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(11/16/14) The Broncos are expecting and planning for quarterback Peyton Manning to play at least one more season, according to NFL.com National Insider Ian Rapoport.
Manning wants to hold all the passing records, and he needs at least one more season to be the NFL leader in career wins and yards, which are currently held by Brett Favre.
Favre has 71,838 passing yards and 186 wins. Manning entered play Week 11 with 67,876 passing yards and 174 wins.
It appears, however, Manning's plans to return in 2015 could change, if the Broncos win the Super Bowl this season, according to Rapoport.
Broncos QB Peyton Manning fires five TD passes vs. Oakland
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(11/9/14) Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning put together another vintage performance, firing five touchdown passes in three quarters of work Sunday afternoon against the Raiders in Week 10.
Manning hooked up with C.J. Anderson for a 51-yard score and Emmanuel Sanders for a 32-yard strike in the second quarter. He fired three touchdowns in the third quarter before his day was over, including two to Julius Thomas (10, 32 yards). Manning found Sanders for a 15-yard score with 1:01 remaining in the third quarter to give his team a 31-point advantage. With the game well in hand, the Broncos kept Manning on the bench in favor of Brock Osweiler.
Manning compiled 340 yards through the air while completing 31 of 44 pass attempts. He added five touchdowns and two interceptions, registering a 111.9 passer rating in a 41-17 victory. He has passed for 2,912 yards with 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.
The Broncos will face the Rams in St. Louis Week 11.
Broncos QB Peyton Manning tosses two touchdowns Week 9
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(11/2/14) Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning tossed two touchdowns Week 9 against the Patriots.
Manning completed 34 of 57 passes for 438 yards and two touchdowns. It wasn't all perfect, as Manning also threw two interceptions. He also gained 3 rushing yards. Manning had some trouble early, struggling during the first quarter. On the first drive of the second quarter, Manning threw his first interception. Manning was able to turn things around in the second half, tossing both of his touchdowns. It was too little too late, as the Broncos never really threatened New England late.
Manning will look for more Week 10 against the Raiders.
|Peyton Manning had the best season for any quarterback in 2013 when he passed for 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns. Can he do it again? Manning loses two key parts with Eric Decker signing as a free agent with the Jets and Knowshon Moreno going to the Dolphins. Those two players accounted for more than 1,800 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, and they will be replaced by free agent signee Emmanuel Sanders, rookie Cody Latimer and second-year running back Montee Ball. Manning still has elite weapons in Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas and Wes Welker, and we're confident Sanders and Ball will post big stats this year, along with some help from Latimer. Still, Manning will likely regress from last season -- he's a year older at 38 and the Broncos want to run more -- but that shouldn't knock him off the perch as the No. 1 Fantasy quarterback. He should be drafted ahead of Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees, and hopefully we'll see another year of 5,000-plus passing yards and 50-plus touchdowns.
