|Eric Berry in line for contract extension |
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
(2/23/14) It makes sense for the Chiefs to extend safety Eric Berry, who's entering the final year of his rookie deal, reports ESPN.com. An extension could help the team's cap situation.
Berry, 25, had 73 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three interceptions last season. The Chiefs "will want to keep him around for a long time," the report said.

|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|

Berry picked off Matt McGloin and took it back 47 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead for the Chiefs in the opening quarter. |Eric Berry, Frank Zombo deliver sacks |
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(12/9/13) The Chiefs got a sack each from defensive back Eric Berry and linebacker Frank Zombo Week 14 at Washington. For Berry, it was his first since Week 12, giving him 3 1/2 on the season. For Zombo, it was his first all year.
Berry finished with five tackles, all solo. Zombo had two, one solo.
|Eric Berry was good but not great in his return from a torn ACL in 2012. He had 86 total tackles (73 solo) with one interception, but his production slipped a little bit from 2010 when he had four interceptions, including a defensive touchdown, and two sacks with 92 tackles (77 solo). He has the potential to play like an Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu, but he has to prove he has the durability and longevity to match their talent. Still, the skill level is there, and we like Berry with a late-round pick on Draft Day. Don't be surprised to see Berry reach 100 total tackles, get a couple of sacks and at least a few interceptions in 2013 now that he's two years removed from his knee injury. (Updated 4/26/13) |
