GM: Spikes will stay with Bolts: Chargers general manager A.J. Smith told the San Diego Union-Tribune to "Save yourself some time and ink" by stating that he intends to keep linebacker Takeo Spikes. "Takeo Spikes isn't going anywhere," Smith said. "He will be a Charger this season. We are very fortunate to have him as part of this situation. He's a true professional in every sense of the word and brings a veteran presence in our locker room." (Updated 02/27/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Spikes totaled 106 tackles in 2011 with an interception, a sack and three passes defensed, playing in every game despite a number of injuries. He's been in the league for a long time and can put up good tackle totals, but he might also break down. We'd call him a risk-reward linebacker probably best served as a No. 3 option. Takeo Spikes will return to the Chargers in 2012 for his 15th season, and he will turn 36 this year. Despite his age he continues to produce at a high level. Spikes, in his first year with the Chargers, had 107 total tackles (64 solo) with one interception and one sack. It's the eighth time he's had 100 total tackles, and he should be useful to Fantasy owners as a No. 3 linebacker in IDP leagues. He is worth drafting with a late-round pick, and he can be a spot starter or bye-week replacement in the majority of leagues. (Updated 4/25/12)
