Chris Thompson has 'emerged' at Redskins camp
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9:32 am ET) Redskins second-year running back Chris Thompson has "emerged" at training camp so far according to ESPN. A year removed from a torn ACL suffered in college, Thompson looks faster and more comfortable, has caught the ball well and has even done some good work in pass protection drills. Durability is an issue for him but if he stays upright he should make the team and could contend for a little playing time.
Chris Thompson to be used like Darren Sproles?
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/27/14) Redskins running back Chris Thompson could have a bigger role than previously thought. Quarterback Robert Griffin III told ESPN.com that "we want him to be Darren Sproles. ... I love the guy."

Thompson, who returned kickoffs as a rookie last year, is battling Roy Helu for playing time behind starter Alfred Morris.

Roy Helu not locked into third-down job?
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/2/14) Roy Helu has held down the Redskins' third-down role among running backs for the past couple of seasons, but it doesn't mean he's a cinch to continue to do so. The team has Chris Thompson and Lache Seastrunk on the roster to compete with him, plus Helu has never shown excellent traits of a make-you-miss type of back.

The Washington Post surmises that experience should keep Helu ahead of the other candidates for the job, but that any strong work this summer by Thompson or Seastrunk could change that.

Jay Gruden high on Chris Thompson's ability
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(3/27/14) Redskins coach Jay Gruden said running back Chris Thompson was “one of the most exciting backs” when he was at Florida State, reports ESPN.com.

“He’s a guy who has to stay healthy and do his best to get on the field so we can see what he can do,” Gruden said. “Interesting guy. He’s very, very exciting when he gets the ball in his hands, but it’s hard to get the ball in his hands when he’s not out there.”

Thompson tore his labrum last season, his ACL in 2012.

Robert Griffin III to work with receivers next week
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(3/17/14) Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and his receiving targets will gather in Arizona next week to "knock off some rust and get a jump on offseason workouts," reports the Washington Post. The receivers scheduled to attend include Pierre Garcon, Aldrick Robinson, Santana Moss, new additions Andre Roberts and David Gettis, tight end Jordan Reed and running backs Alfred Morris, Evan Royster and Chris Thompson.
