| Denver will keep Bailey at cornerback |
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer (2/28/13) Broncos executive vice president John Elway confirmed that Champ Bailey will stay at cornerback instead of move to safety. "I don't think that's gonna happen," Elway told 104.3 The Fan in Denver. "I think that's a rumor out there. I think the plan right now is to leave Champ at corner. We haven't had any discussions. I know there's been some talk out there but in this building there's not been any talk as far as moving Champ to safety."

| Champ Bailey remains one of the league's premier shutdown cornerbacks even at age 34. Even though most teams only throw his way a couple times a game, Bailey's 52 career interceptions rank first among cornerbacks since he entered the league as the seventh overall pick by the Redskins in 2009, and his 201 pass breakups are tops among players during the past 13 years. Bailey's stats aren't regularly impressive because he doesn't get thrown at a lot. That could change if his skills begin to deteriorate, which might happen down the line. For now, assume that Bailey will serve Fantasy owners as a good one-week replacement, potentially a regular No. 3 defensive back in deeper leagues. (Updated 4/25/13) |
