Browns TE job remains open: The Akron Beacon Journal reports Browns TE Steve Heiden, who tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee Dec. 15, will battle Robert Royal and Martin Rucker for Kellen Winslow's old job if he's ready for training camp.

2009 Fantasy outlooks: Cleveland Browns
The Browns had a terrible 2008, with the coach paying the price. What is in store for the Browns and Fantasy owners this season? Our Jamey Eisenberg examines the Browns from a Fantasy perspective.

Steve Heiden has a chance to be the Browns No. 1 TE this year with Kellen Winslow now in Tampa Bay. Heiden has to prove his knee is OK after finishing the year on injured reserve with a torn ACL, then he has to beat out Martin Rucker and Robert Royal for the spot. Prior to getting hurt, Heiden had 23 catches for 249 yards (10.8 avg.) in 14 games with 11 starts. At the worst, Heiden will be a No. 2 tight end for the Browns, a role he's grown into, and be available to post nominal stats. But assuming he doesn't get elevated to the No. 1 role, he won't be worth using in Fantasy play. If he does become the No. 1 guy, then he might be worth a look as a No. 2 Fantasy TE.
