Nedney let go by the Bay: The 49ers agreed to terms with veteran David Akers on Thursday, so they released K Joe Nedney as a result. He was 28 of 34 in attempts last season, and he occupied the kicking duties for the team for the bulk of the last six seasons. (Updated 07/29/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
Nedney was solid when called upon, and he even hit at least one 50-plus yard kick in each season he was with the team. Still, Akers appeared to be too good to pass up, so Nedney was the odd-man out. He will likely get a shot on another roster this season, though we don't think he's worth snagging on Draft Day until he does. (Updated 07/29/2011).
