Jets' Richardson, Marshall not at voluntary OTA's
|(5/20/15) The Jets were without defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson and wide receiver Brandon Marshall at the team's voluntary organized team activities on Wednesaday, per nj.com.
Wednesday marked the second day of the Jets' 10-day voluntary workout program. Marshall was present on the first day but Richardson was not.
Jets coach Todd Bowles said Marshall was absent on Wednesday because he "had something to take care of, but "it wasn't conveyed" to him why Richardson was not there.
Richardson was the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2013 and is projected to play a key role on the Jets' defense.

Jets WR Brandon Marshall: Geno Smith has 'drive' and 'passion'
|by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com|
|(3/13/15) Jets quarterback Geno Smith has seen far more downs than ups in two NFL seasons. Entering his third year, Smith will be asked to produce far more, especially now that he has receiver Brandon Marshall in town.
Marshall, in an interview with the New York media on Friday, was complimentary of the young quarterback, who has yet to throw more touchdowns than interceptions in a single season.
“I just think he has a drive and a passion that a lot of people don’t see,” Marshall said, via the New York Post. “From my conversations with him so far, it’s really got me excited.”
Smith only managed 2,525 yards, 13 touchdowns with 13 interceptions a season ago. He was sometimes pulled in favor of backup Michael Vick in games where he struggled mightily. Assuming Smith is the starter in 2015, he won't have as much leeway with new coach Todd Bowles at the helm.
Brandon Marshall: 'I've got 10 more years left in me'
|by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst|
|(3/11/15) Wideout Brandon Marshall, who turns 31 on March 23, said he's excited to be joining the Jets and has a lot of good football left, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
“It was pretty cool to be able to sit back and figure out who really wanted me and the right place for me,” Marshall told the Jets' website. “Being able to be in New York with coach (Todd) Bowles, I thought, was an amazing opportunity and one that I thought I couldn't pass up.”
Bowles was an assistant in Miami when Marshall played for the Dolphins in 2010 and 2011. Jets receivers coach Karl Dorrell coached the Dolphins' receivers in 2010.
"I think it will be a great transition,” Marshall said of his trade from the Bears to the Jets. “Coach Bowles allows guys to be themselves. He treats everyone like men and like pros. That's what it's about right there. That's what I've seen work, is when guys feel comfortable coming to work and they're not micromanaged and there's someone there they can believe in, they can trust. He's an amazing leader."
Marshall said he's "got 10 more years left in me. I can still do everything, and I'm excited to do that.”
