Jets WR Brandon Marshall: Geno Smith has 'drive' and 'passion'

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(3/13/15) Jets quarterback Geno Smith has seen far more downs than ups in two NFL seasons. Entering his third year, Smith will be asked to produce far more, especially now that he has receiver Brandon Marshall in town.

Marshall, in an interview with the New York media on Friday, was complimentary of the young quarterback, who has yet to throw more touchdowns than interceptions in a single season.

“I just think he has a drive and a passion that a lot of people don’t see,” Marshall said, via the New York Post. “From my conversations with him so far, it’s really got me excited.”

Smith only managed 2,525 yards, 13 touchdowns with 13 interceptions a season ago. He was sometimes pulled in favor of backup Michael Vick in games where he struggled mightily. Assuming Smith is the starter in 2015, he won't have as much leeway with new coach Todd Bowles at the helm.

Brandon Marshall: 'I've got 10 more years left in me'

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(3/11/15) Wideout Brandon Marshall, who turns 31 on March 23, said he's excited to be joining the Jets and has a lot of good football left, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

“It was pretty cool to be able to sit back and figure out who really wanted me and the right place for me,” Marshall told the Jets' website. “Being able to be in New York with coach (Todd) Bowles, I thought, was an amazing opportunity and one that I thought I couldn't pass up.”

Bowles was an assistant in Miami when Marshall played for the Dolphins in 2010 and 2011. Jets receivers coach Karl Dorrell coached the Dolphins' receivers in 2010.

"I think it will be a great transition,” Marshall said of his trade from the Bears to the Jets. “Coach Bowles allows guys to be themselves. He treats everyone like men and like pros. That's what it's about right there. That's what I've seen work, is when guys feel comfortable coming to work and they're not micromanaged and there's someone there they can believe in, they can trust. He's an amazing leader."

Marshall said he's "got 10 more years left in me. I can still do everything, and I'm excited to do that.”

Jets acquire Brandon Marshall from Bears

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/10/15) The Jets announced Tuesday that the team has acquired wide receiver Brandon Marshall from the Bears.

"I kind of knew about it before it all happened," Marshall said Tuesday morning. "It was pretty cool to be able to sit back and figure out who really wanted me and the right place for me. Being able to be in New York with Coach Bowles, I thought, was an amazing opportunity and one that I thought I couldn't pass up."

The Bears will receive a fifth-round pick for Marshall while also sending a seventh-round pick to the Jets.

No surgery required for Broncos leading tackler Brandon Marshall

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/15/15) Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall will recover from his sprained foot with rest and rehab, and surgery isn't necessary, reports the team's website. Marshall led Denver with 113 tackles during the regular season, adding nine pass breakups, two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.

Marshall suffered the injury Dec. 14 and played through it.

"I think the offseason will take care of it. It shouldn't linger until next season because it wasn't as bad as [Ryan] Clady's or anybody else's," Marshall said. "As long as I keep rehabbing, I think it'll be good."

Broncos all set for divsional round playoff game against Colts

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(1/11/15) The Broncos will head into Sunday's divisional round playoff game at nearly full strength as quarterback Peyton Manning, wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, tight end Julius Thomas, linebacker Brandon Marshall and cornerback Aqib Talib are all active for Denver.

All players except Marshall were listed as probable for the game on the team's final injury report Friday. Marshall was listed as questionable with a foot injury.

The Broncos are currently 9 1/2-point favorites against the Colts Sunday.
