Colts TE Dwayne Allen focused on staying healthy

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(8/14/15) Colts tight end Dwayne Allen scored eight touchdowns last season on just 29 receptions, and those numbers could have been even better if he had stayed on the field, something the third-year pro is focusing on as he enters the final year of his contract, per ESPN.com.

"There's no pressure for me to go out and hit any set numbers," Allen said. "My number one focus is to stay healthy so I can help the team. Special teams, three downs on offense. Whatever it takes."

Allen has missed 18 games over the past two seasons, which has limited the time he can work with quarterback Andrew Luck. Allen lost 13 pounds in the offseason to ready himself for what he hopes is a big campaign.

"I believe I'm a No. 1 tight end that can create mismatches and get open," he said.

Influx of wide receiver talent to help Colts tight ends

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(6/3/15) The Colts might very well sport one of the best wide receiving corp in the NFL. Andre Johnson, T.Y. Hilton, Duron Carter, Donte Moncrief and Phillip Dorsett are enough to give opposing team's nightmares.

Defenses won't fare well against that group, but their fellow tight ends will sure get to enjoy the open space the receivers will create for them, per indystar.com.

"I think just having the threat of those guys outside, meaning the wide receivers, is going to open things up for the tight ends a ton," Colts tight end Dwayne Allen said.

Allen caught 29 passes for 395 passes and eight touchdowns in 13 games last season.

Colts TE Dwayne Allen not concerned about potential free agency

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(5/14/15) Colts tight end Dwayne Allen can become a free agent after the 2015 season, but he said he's more concerned with how he performs than how much he'll earn in the future, reports the team's official website.

"I play this game because I want to be the best, not because I want to be the highest paid or anything like that," Allen said. "With the contract looming, it is what is. Me thinking about a contract isn't going to help me play any better on the field. Me focusing on having my body in the best shape possible to go out and help the team will."

Allen dealt with a high ankle sprain during the 2014 season, but he said he's healthy heading into the 2015 season.

"I felt 70 percent for the better part of [2014]," Allen said. "Having an offseason to really train like the offseason I had my rookie year or the offseason I had going into the second year, before I was injured, was my main focus. I'm glad I was able to get away and get that taken care of."

Colts likely to be 'very proactive' extending 2012 draft class

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/20/15) The Colts are expected to be "very proactive" in working out long-term extensions for members of the 2012 draft class, CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora repots.

Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is expected to be the first player approached after catching 82 passes for 1,345 yards and seven touchdowns in 2014. Andrew Luck, Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener are three more players who figure to be involved in the team's longterm plans.

Colts' Hilton, Fleener and Allen held in check on Sunday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(1/18/15) The Colts had no standout receivers during the AFC Championship game against the Patriots.

T.Y. Hilton actually led the team in receiving with just 36 yards. All of his production came on one catch. Hilton tied for the team lead with six targets, but just couldn't convert most of the time.

Coby Fleener managed to haul in three catches, gaining 30 yards. He was targeted four times, finishing second on the team.

Dwayne Allen tied with Hilton for targets, but was able to convert more often. He led the team with four receptions, but gained just 30 yards.
