Rams list 14 players on final injury report for Oakland game

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11/28/14) The Rams unveiled a lengthy injury report which included 14 players on the list for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Rookie cornerback Marcus Roberson (ankle) was unable to practice all week and was the only player on the report ruled as doubtful. Defensive end Eugene Sims missed practice all week due to a death in the family, but is expected to play, per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He was deemed as probable. Defensive back Lamarcus Joyner (groin) and defensive tackle Alex Carrington (thigh) are questionable.

Meanwhile, the following players were designated as probable: Center Scott Wells (rest), defensive end Robert Quinn (rest) and guard Davin Joseph (rest), linebacker James Laurinaitis (ankle), wide receiver Kenny Britt (back), cornerback E.J. Gaines (knee), tight end Cory Harkey (thigh), tight end Jared Cook (back), linebacker Will Herring (foot) and linebacker Alec Ogletree

Rams notch eight sacks in Week 9 road win vs. 49ers

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/2/14) The Rams defense came up big Sunday, sacking 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick eight times in the team's 13-10 road win over San Francisco in Week 9.

While the offense was largely stagnant for 60 minutes, the Rams defense dominated the 49ers' offensive line to keep the team in the game and eventually pull off the win. Defensive end Robert Quinn led the charge with two sacks and a forced fumble, while linebacker James Laurinaitis and defensive linemen Michael Brockers, Aaron Donald, Eugene Sims and William Hayes each picked up a sack as well.

It was a stark departure from the same unit that failed to find much quarterback pressure over the first few weeks of the season. The Rams defense will hope to keep playing at an elite level in Week 10 against the Cardinals.

Rams defense held sackless, scores touchdown in Week 3

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/21/14) The Rams didn't record a sack in Week 3's 34-31 loss to the Cowboys but did return an interception for a touchdown in the game.

Rams defensive end Robert Quinn saw plenty of double and triple teams with Chris Long sidelined, and none of his linemates were able to set up and hit Tony Romo with a sack. With the Rams already up 14-0 in the second quarter, cornerback Janoris Jenkins stepped in front of a Romo pass and cut an easy path to the end zone after making the pick. Defensive back Cody Davis managed to recover a DeMarco Murray fumble in the first quarter, giving the defense two turnovers on the day. The highly-regarded Rams defense has just one sack through three games heading into a Week 4 bye. A matchup with the Eagles awaits them on the other side of the week off.

Robert Quinn signs four-year extension with Rams

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/13/14) Rams defensive end Robert Quinn has signed a four-year extension that will keep him under contract through 2019, ESPN reports.

The deal is worth $66.575 million in all and contains $41.2 million guaranteed. A first round pick in 2011, Quinn racked up 19 sacks last season, earning a distinction as a first-team All Pro. He was held to two tackles and no sacks in Week 1 against the Vikings but will try to get on the board Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Rams DST could thrive in Week 1 vs. Vikings

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/4/14) The Rams defense found a way to get scarier this offseason, selecting draftnik darling Aaron Donald in the first round to add to a front four that already includes Robert Quinn, Chris Long and Michael Brockers. That fearsome foursome has a good chance to wreak havoc on the Vikings in Week 1.

The Rams also enjoyed addition by subtraction when they parted ways with the regularly overmatched Cortland Finnegan this offseason. A unit that was dominant against the run last year should be able to do as good a job against Adrian Peterson as is possible. But teams will likely find it tougher to pass on the Rams this season; though the team was the worst in the league against No. 1 receivers last year, thanks in large part to Finnegan, they excelled against No. 2 wide receivers and were also the top team in the league at defending tight ends, per Football Outsiders.

The Vikings represent a nice matchup for the Rams, as Minnesota the 11th-best offense for DSTs to face last season. The Rams deservedly check in as top-five options for both CBSSports.com Fantasy experts this week.
