Wilkerson, Richardson, Marshall all absent at Jets' OTAs
|by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer|
|(5/20/15) The Jets kicked off more offseason training activities Wednesday without three core members of their team, as Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson and Brandon Marshall were all absent for the voluntary training, per ESPN.com.
Wilkerson's absence is no surprise, as the defensive lineman is seeking a new contract from the team and has stated he won't take part in voluntary team activities. Richardson and Marshall are not involved in contract disputes.
Still no contract extension for Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson
|by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer|
|(5/19/15) Despite some optimism from the team, Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson remains without a contract extension. Therefore, he will not participate in the team's OTA and will work out on his own.
Heading into the final year on his contract and due to make $6.97 million, Wilkerson is not pleased with how the negotiations have gone.
"We're continuing to have dialogue sporadically, but it’s got to be something that works for both sides," owner Woody Johnson said per the New York Post.
The team expressed an interest in extending his contract, but so far there has been no signs of an extension. Plus, the team drafted Leonard Williams in the first round, which does pose some questions regarding Wilkerson's future with the Jets, according to ESPN.com.
Jets GM optimistic about deal with DE Muhammad Wilkerson

|(5/14/15) Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan has expressed optimism that a long-term deal can be reached with premier defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson.
"We have money allocated for Mo," Maccagnan said via NJ.com. "We'd like to keep Mo a Jet for a long time. But, again, it's a process."
Maccagnan had merely reiterated what he claimed before the draft about Wilkerson, who could receive $40 million guaranteed.
Wilkerson was a rare standout for the Jets last season with 56 tackles and six sacks. He has 21 1/2 sacks over the last three years.
Jets' Mike Maccagnan: 'Not actively shopping' Muhammad Wilkerson
|by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com|
|(5/6/15) Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson has long been talked about as a potential trading chip.
However, Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan, who appeared on The Michael Kay Show on ESPN New York 98.7 FM, said that the organization isn't looking to try and trade Wilkerson at this time.
"We're not actively shopping Mo," Maccagnan said, via ESPN.com. "It's not part of our plans. But, again, his name comes up periodically at times, but nothing active right now."
Wilkerson has been productive for the Jets but is entering the final year of his contract. The Jets also just drafted Leonard Williams, who figures to earn some immediate playing time.
"Mo's a good player, he's part of this organization and he's currently under contract," Maccagnan said. "We'd like to keep him in this organization. We just have to go through a process with him to figure out, you know, if we can find a middle ground."
Jets pick could lower asking price for DE Muhammad Wilkerson
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(5/1/15) The Jets would have asked for multiple first-round picks to trade defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, sources have told CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, who adds that the addition of top pick Leonard Williams and desire of Wilkerson to land a new deal could lower the price.
The Browns and Raiders have been considered possible landing spots for Wilkerson, though it remains to be seen if the former would still be interested after selecting nose tackle Danny Shelton at No. 12 overall on Thursday. The team is still looking for an outside pass rusher.
