(5/22/13) The San Francisco Chronicle reports Niners linebacker Aldon Smith isn't sure if he'll be cleared in time for the start of training camp after having surgery to fix a torn labrum in his shoulder earlier this offseason.

(3/16/13) 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith underwent shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum last month, the NFL Network reported Friday. The team declined to comment on the procedure and it's unclear if he will miss any playing time during the upcoming season. Smith dealt with a lingering shoulder issue that kept him on the injury report since last November, but did not miss any playing time and completed all 16 games.

| In two years in the NFL, Aldon Smith has 33.5 sacks, which says about all you need to know. He's a beast rushing the passer, and he should continue to be a solid linebacker in IDP leagues. In 2012, Smith added 66 total tackles (50 solo), which will only help his value, and he had an interception. We consider Smith a solid No. 1 linebacker in IDP leagues, and he should be drafted with a mid-round pick. (Updated 4/25/13) |
