Eagles LB Kiko Alonso dealing with knee issue
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(8/31/15) Eagles linebacker Kiko Alonso said he has been bothered by a nagging knee issue, which flared up before Saturday's preseason game, reports Philly.com.
Alonso was able to practice Monday, but coach Chip Kelly was unsure if he would play in Thursday's final preseason game.
"He's looked sharp in practice, but games and practice are a little bit different," Kelly said. "We'll see where he is. But we're hopeful to get him back out there [in games]."
Eagles Alonso (concussion), Murray (illness) out Thursday
|by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer|
|(8/6/15) Eagles standouts Kiko Alonso and DeMarco Murray were not on the practice field Thursday, as the former is dealing with a concussion and the latter an unspecified illiness, per the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Eagles had an off-day Wednesday, so it is possible that Alonso injured himself during Tuesday's practice. Murray missed his second practice in four outings - he didn't participate in the training camp opener due to dehydration.
Eagles LB Kiko Alonso is doing 'everything' at OTA's
|by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer|
|(5/30/15) Eagles linebacker Kiko Alonso has surprised everyone, himself included, by participating in organized team activities, per nfl.com.
Alonso, who tore his ACL in July, was participating without limitations at Eagles practice this week.
"I honestly didn't think I'd be doing this much," Alonso said. "I've just been going on how I feel, and it's feeling really good."
To put his recovery in perspective, Alonso tore his ACL two months prior to teammate Sam Bradford, who is still recovering and has been seen walking with a limp.
DeMeco Ryans likes improved Eagles' defense
|by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com|
|(4/17/15) Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans likes the changes that the team has made to its defense in the offseason.
"We got better on the outside, which we struggled at last year,” Ryans said, per ESPN. “We had a lot of struggles there on the outside at the corner position, so I feel we've upgraded there with (Byron) Maxwell , a guy that you've seen make a lot of plays for the Seahawks. A guy like Kiko (Alonso), who his rookie year was a really outstanding player, up for defensive rookie of the year, a playmaker all over the field, and another guy in (Walter) Thurmond , who is expected to definitely push guys to be the starting corner on the other side. So I feel like we upgraded at a lot of positions, and I feel like it's really going to improve our defense."
LB Kiko Alonso on track for OTAs
|by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst|
|(3/26/15) Eagles linebacker Kiko Alonso, who's coming back from surgery to fix a torn ACL, is on track to be ready for organized team activities, coach Chip Kelly told the Philadelphia Inquirer. Alonso suffered the injury last offseason and did not play in 2014.
Philly acquired Alonso as part of the LeSean McCoy trade. In 2013, Alonso had 159 tackles, four interceptions and two sacks for the Bills.
|The Bills traded linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Eagles this offseason in the trade for LeSean McCoy, and Alonso is expected to start alongside Mychal Kendricks in his reunion with former Oregon coach Chip Kelly. Alonso missed the 2014 season with a torn ACL, but he was a star as a rookie in 2013 with 159 total tackles (87 solo) with two sacks, four interceptions, one forced fumble and four pass defenses. He has the upside to be a No. 1 linebacker in IDP leagues, but he's worth drafting as a No. 2 option with a mid-round pick.
