Bills' Kiko Alonso starts to run, but still has ways to go in recovery

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/30/14) Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso is pleased with his progress as he is three months removed from ACL surgery.

"I’ve started running already," Alonso told Buffalobills.com. "I’m just doing straight line running, so I’m doing everything but cutting right now. Obviously I’m progressing to full speed running. I’m doing everything, but I’m limited."

Alonso said his knee feels great. However, he is being cautious with his recovery, which usually takes 7-9 months after surgery.

"My knee feels great," he said. "It definitely doesn’t feel like there’s anything wrong with it. It’s just a matter of time. You’ve got to let that ligament heal and strengthen the muscles around it. It feels probably where it should be right now."

Agent: Kiko Alonso had successful surgery

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/18/14) Steve Caric, the agent for Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso, posted on Twitter that his client had successful surgery to repair his torn ACL. The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews.

Alonso is fully expected to miss the entire season.

Bills make roster moves

(7/16/14) The Bills released tight end Mike Caussin and placed linebacker Randell Johnson and defensive back Leodis McKelvin on the Active/PUP list. Buffalo put linebacker Kiko Alonso on the Active/Non-Football Injury list, while offensive tackle Cordy Glenn and defensive tackle Alan Branch were sent to the Active/Non-Football Illness list.

Bills confirm Alonso has torn ACL

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/2/14) Bills general manager Doug Whaley said in a statement Wednesday that linebacker Kiko Alonso tore his left ACL and "will most likely" miss the 2014 season.

"He will be scheduled for surgery in the near future and begin a rehabilitation program at the appropriate time," Whaley said. "We feel badly for Kiko because he has worked very hard this offseason in preparation for the upcoming season, but we look forward to his return with his style of play that made him one of the league's outstanding rookies in 2013."

Nigel Bradham and Preston Brown figure to be part of the competition to replace Alonso in the lineup this season.

Kiko Alonso to miss season with torn ACL

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7/1/14) Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso suffered a torn ACL that will cost him the entire 2014 season, ESPN.com reports.

Alonso suffered the injury while working out in Oregon, according to Bills general manager Doug Whaley. It's a big blow to an underrated Buffalo defense. Alonso will need seven-to-nine months of recovery time and will work on getting back to full health in time for the 2015 season.
