Jermaine Kearse, Doug Baldwin lead the way for Seattle
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/14/14) Seahawks receivers Jermaine Kearse and Doug Baldwin led the way for the club Week 2.

Kearse led the team with four catches and 61 yards. His biggest play came on the first drive of the game. Kearse picked up a 30 yard reception despite defensive pass interference.

Baldwin snagged three balls for 35 yards. He was targeted a team-high six times during the game.

Both players will take on the Broncos Week 3.

Seahawks backup receivers make the most of their chances
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/5/14) The Seahawks backup receivers made some big plays Thursday against the Packers.

Both Ricardo Lockette and Derrick Coleman came through on scoring plays. Lockette was targeted on a read-option play. After Russell Wilson kept the ball, he hit Lockette with a short pass after the cornerback bit on the play. Lockette broke a tackle on his way to scoring a 33 yard touchdown. He would finish with two catches for 38 yards.

Coleman only made one catch, but made it count. With the team trying to run out the clock, Coleman caught a short pass on fourth down and managed to rumble in for the 15 yard score.

Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse didn’t play a big role in the contest. Baldwin caught three balls, but only gained 11 yards. Kearse caught just one pass for 8 yards. Tight end Luke Willson chipped in too, hauling in one pass for one yard.

All five players will take on the Chargers Week 2.

Unheralded Seahawks come up big
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(2/3/14) Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that it was striking to see some of the lesser-known Seahawks make big plays in the Super Bowl.

"I think it was extraordinary last night to see Jermaine Kearse score a touchdown and Doug Baldwin score a touchdown, and [linebacker] Malcolm Smith gets in the end zone and scoops up another fumble," Carroll said. "Guys that are not the heralded guys coming in competed in our program and found a way to contribute in enormous ways."

Kearse had a 23-yard touchdown catch, Baldwin a 10-yard scoring reception. Smith won MVP honors after returning an interception 69 yards for a touchdown and tying for the team lead with 10 tackles.

Jermaine Kearse scores eye-popping touchdown
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(2/2/14) Seahawks receiver Jermaine Kearse broke three tackles en route to a 23-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter of the Super Bowl. The rising star finished with four catches for 65 yards.

He was targeted five times, tied for the team lead with Doug Baldwin. Kearse ended the postseason with seven grabs for 134 yards and two touchdowns.

Jermaine Kearse could be Super Bowl X-factor
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/27/14) Receiver Jermaine Kearse, who went undrafted out of the University of Washington in 2012, has become a key player for the Seahawks. He leaped for a 35-yard touchdown on 4th-and-7 in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game.

It's clear quarterback Russell Wilson has faith in Kearse, who caught 22 passes for 346 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season. Kearse helped build that trust with two touchdown catches against Denver in a preseason game.

“He was one of the guys that I said at the beginning of the year that I thought was going to be lights out for us,” Wilson told the News Tribune of Tacoma, Wash. “I really noticed that in the offseason and then rookie minicamp when I was with him. I just noticed he caught the football.”
