Cowboys' Terrance Williams scores on only reception

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/19/14) Cowboys wideout Terrance Williams scored on his only reception Week 7.

Williams struck near the end of the second quarter. He hooked up with Tony Romo on an 18 yard touchdown reception. It was the only pass Williams caught all game. He was targeted just three times during the contest.

Williams will look for more against Washington Week 8.

Terrance Williams makes the play of the game

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(10/12/14) The Cowboys were facing 3rd-and-20 in the fourth quarter Sunday when second-year wideout Terrance Williams snared a high 23-yard pass on the sideline, barely tapping his toes as he fell out of bounds. The ballet-like catch keyed Dallas' game-winning touchdown drive.

Williams earlier made a 47-yard reception to finish with 70 yards on two grabs. Those were his only two targets. Williams plays the Giants in Week 7.

Seahawks showing vulnerability against the pass

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/8/14) The safe assumption over the last season has been to sit all but the best Fantasy options when the Seahawks show up on the schedule. However, Seattle's defense has been surprisingly vulnerable against the pass so far, which throws a wrench in conventional wisdom when it comes to the Cowboys' Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams.

Though the Seahawks still rank as the toughest rush defense in the league, they have been remarkably pedestrian against the pass. Part of that is the result of going against Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Peyton Manning to open the season, but even Kirk Cousins lit them up for 23 Fantasy points last week. Romo has found his way in recent weeks after a slow start, and might actually be a worthy start for Week 6 in Seattle.

Of course, how Romo plays will go a long way toward defining if Bryant or Williams is worth using. The Seahawks have been vulnerable against the pass, but have still held opposing teams' No. 1 receivers to just 48 yards per game and no touchdowns. Still, Bryant has too much skill to consider sitting against even a tough matchup like this. Williams might find room to succeed if Bryant is bottled up, but it is tough to rely on someone who has topped five targets just three times in five games.

Eventually, the Seahawks might turn things around and return to the smothering defense they have been in the past. If you want to pass on Romo this week, we wouldn't blame you -- Jamey Eisenberg has him as far down as 17th among quarterbacks in his rankings for Week 6. However, this is no longer a must-sit matchup, based on what we have seen this season.

Cowboys' Terrance Williams scores fifth touchdown of season

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/5/14) Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams followed up his multi-touchdown performance with another score on Sunday against the Texans in Week 5.

Williams caught a deep pass for a gain of 28 yards on a corner route on the final drive of the first half. He broke free for a 43-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. He caught two of the six passes thrown his way for 71 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 overtime victory.

Williams has 16 receptions for 250 yards and five touchdowns this season. He'll try to stretch the field in a difficult matchup at Seattle in Week 6.

No thanks to Terrance Williams

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/1/14) I hate to pooh-pooh a player a week after he scores two touchdowns, but I really don't get the Terrance Williams love.

OK, so those two in Week 4 gave him four in four games, but in two of those games, he caught just two passes total. And prior to Sunday night, his season high in receiving yards was 50.

The Cowboys were a run-heavy team prior to opening up the passing game in what figured to be a high-scoring affair with the Saints in town, but I think they go back to feeding DeMarco Murray against Houston this week. In that version of the Cowboys offense, Tony Romo has shown he's good for only one or two touchdown passes, and you have to think Dez Bryant is more likely to get one than Williams. So what does that make Williams' chances of scoring a week-to-week basis? Less than 50/50?

Bottom line: I don't think he can keep up this scoring rate, and if he doesn't keep up this scoring rate, he doesn't have much to fall back on.

That doesn't mean I'm dropping Williams, but I'm not nearly as bullish on him as Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard, who rank him among their top 24 wide receivers for this week. I'm probably not even starting him in a standard 12-team league.
