Good luck with Michael Floyd

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11/24/14) Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd caught two passes in Week 11, which at face value would give no one the impression he was back to form. But because both happened to go for touchdowns, including one of more than 40 yards, some of his owners couldn't be talked out of starting him Week 12 at Seattle. And those owners are filled with remorse right now.

That's because, with backup Drew Stanton again under center for the Cardinals, Floyd went without a single catch. He was targeted twice but failed to connect -- and with fellow wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald sidelined by a a sprained knee, no less.

That's the lowest of lows for him in what has been by and large a disappointing season. With this performance, he's averaging 2.1 catches for 28.9 yards over his last seven games. He's had a few touchdowns during that stretch to soften the blow, but ultimately, all they've done is given his owners false hope.

Unlike Fitzgerald, Floyd's production didn't improve for those five games when starting quarterback Carson Palmer was back from injury, and now Palmer is out for the year. Between Stanton's shortcomings and John Brown's emergence, you shouldn't be hoping for any sort of rebound from Floyd.

Cardinals WR John Brown paces tepid receiving attack in Week 12

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/23/14) Cardinals wide receiver John Brown caught three of his five targets for a team-high 61 yards in Arizona's 19-3 loss in Seattle in Week 12.

Brown's reception late in the third quarter was a thing of beauty, shaking off his coverage while djusting to an underthrown ball and barely keeping his toes in bounds while falling to the sideline. The play stood after being challenged by the Seahawks. Unfortunately, it was one of precious few highlights for the passing game against a stout Seattle defense.

Michael Floyd was held catchless on just two offical targets, and only four players on the Cardinals offense were able to haul in at least one reception. Running back Andre Ellington managed a team-high five catches, while tight end John Carlson caught three passes for 25 yards and wide receiver Jaron Brown hauled in three passes for 24 yards. Larry Fitzgerald was inactive with a sprained knee ligament.

The Cardinals offense will hope to bounce back with a likely easier matchup in Atlanta in Week 13.

Michael Floyd post first two-touchdown game of his career

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11/16/14) Cardinals wideout Michael Floyd caught touchdown passes on Arizona's first two possessions Sunday, giving him the first two-touchdown performance of his three-year career. Floyd boxed out his defender for a 42-yard score, then beat man coverage for a 12-yard touchdown on an out route.

He finished with those two grabs on five targets for 54 yards. It was his highest yardage output since Week 3.

Floyd visits the Seahawks in Week 12.

Signs of life promising for Michael Floyd

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/16/14) Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd awoke from a deep slumber in Week 11 against the Lions, but there is still reason to be concerned about his Fantasy value down the line.

Floyd, who had just 47 yards in his previous three games, nearly matched total on his first catch of the game, a 42-yard touchdown in the first quarter. He exceeded it minutes later, as he scored from 10 yards out and looks to be on his way to a truly massive breakout game.

Those ended up being Floyd's only two catches of the game, as he finished with 54 yards and a pair of scores. The good news is, Drew Stanton looked his way and found him more than Carson Palmer had been recently. The bad news is, without those touchdowns, this would have been just another pedestrian performance from a guy who was a preseason breakout candidate.

It is encouraging that Floyd found a way to be productive, but the margin for error is going to be awfully small if he has to keep relying on touchdowns for Fantasy value. Floyd is a dangerous big play option, but he has struggled mightily so far this season. You're feeling better about his value now, but Floyd still looks like an unreliable option at this point.

Michael Floyd, other Cardinals pass catchers struggle Week 10

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(11/9/14) Cardinals wideout Michael Floyd had a rough game Week 10 against the Rams.

Floyd hauled in just one pass, gaining 11 yards. He was targeted four times during the contest. Jaron Brown actually finished third in receiving on the day, picking up 35 yards on three catches. Tight end John Carlson had 33 yards on two receptions. Troy Niklas caught just one pass, gaining 17 yards. Ted Ginn Jr. also caught one pass, but gained 15 yards. Rob Housler gained 11 yards on his only catch.

Floyd and the crew will take on the Lions Week 11.
