Lions' Joique Bell gets the work Week 15
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(12/14/14) Lions running back Joique Bell received the bulk of the carries Week 15.
Reggie Bush came into the game dealing with an ankle injury, so Bell was used as the workhorse. He carried the ball 15 times, gaining 62 yards. Bell also proved to be a useful asset in the passing game, hauling in four passes for 41 yards. He finished second on the team in receiving for the game.
Bell will look for more Week 16 against the Bears.
Joique Bell brushes off Reggie Bush

|(12/7/14) Lions running back Reggie Bush returned to action Week 14 against Tampa Bay after missing a few games with an ankle injury and didn't play an insignificant amount, rushing eight times for 26 yards and catching four passes for 8. In fact, his 12 touches were his most since Week 4 at the Jets, when he had 16. And yet Joique Bell, Bush's platoon partner who has stepped up his production recent weeks, continued to thrive with 18 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown and five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.
It was Bell's third straight game with at least 18 carries. He got 18 carries once before when Bush was healthy Week 7 against New Orleans, but he gained only 48 yards then. Part of the reason for his recent success is that he's just been more effective running the ball, averaging 4.1 yards per carry in his last four games compared to 3.3 in his previous eight. And at least the last two weeks, matchups have played a part in that.
You wouldn't want to count on Bell for more than 100 combined yards and two touchdowns every week with Bush back in the mix, but it's clear he's more reliable now than he was at the beginning of the season. With another favorable matchup Week 15 against Minnesota, he's a great second running back in most formats.
Lions' Joique Bell stays hot with two touchdowns in Week 14 win

|(12/7/14) Lions running back Joique Bell ran 18 times for 83 yards and a touchdown in Detroit's 34-17 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Bell also had five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. Much of Bell's 83 yards came on a 57 yard run in the second half. Bell has four touchdowns in the last two weeks.
The Lions will host Minnesota in Week 15.
Reggie Bush return unfortunate for Joique Bell
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
|(12/4/14) Coming off his best rushing performance of the season -- a 91-yard, two-touchdown effort against the Bears in Week 13 -- Lions running back Joique Bell looked like an easy call for Week 14 against a Buccaneers team that, at 2-10, may be out of the running by halftime.
But Reggie Bush's expected return from an ankle injury, which has sidelined him for the last three weeks, changes things, especially since coach Jim Caldwell has said Bush will start when he's ready to return.
Of course, being the starter at running back doesn't count for much for a team like the Lions, who rotate players at the position. Bush was a starter before the injury as well, and yet Bell outperformed him virtually every week. But that doesn't change the fact that in the seven games Bush has played this season, Bell hasn't run for more than 51 yards.
Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard both rank Bell 11th among running backs for this week, but I'm not confident he'll get the touches to make that kind of contribution. He's still usable, particularly as a flex option, but he'd probably be outside my top 20.
Lions' Joique Bell totals more than 100 yards, two TDs Week 13

|(11/27/14) With Reggie Bush sidelined a third straight game Week 13 due to an ankle injury, Lions running back Joique Bell stepped up in his absence during a 34-17 win. Bell rushed for a team-high 91 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries, while adding two catches for 16 yards.
Bell gave Detroit a 17-14 lead with a 1-yard touchdown run with 3:18 left in the second quarter. Bell added another 1-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, giving Detroit a 31-17 lead. It was the second multitouchdown game of his career.
The 23 carries and 91 rushing yards were season highs for Bell, who has surpassed 80 rushing yards in two of his last three games. He has five rushing touchdowns in 11 games.
The Lions are back in action Week 14 vs. Tampa Bay.
|Backup running back? Handcuff? These terms no longer apply to Joique Bell, who split up the majority of running back touches with Reggie Bush to the tune of 44-56 in favor of Bush. And now that's expected to tilt ever so slightly in Bell's favor as several of the Lions new coaches have insisted on a 50-50 split between the two backs. Bell finished as the 16th best back in Fantasy despite only 219 touches last year, thanks in large part to his eight touchdowns (seven from inside the 2-yard line). But he also had nearly 1,200 total yards despite a limited workload. There are no signs of Bell slowing down -- if anything he might see even better numbers this season thanks to more work. We love the idea of swiping Bell underneath the noses of your fellow Fantasy owners with a pick in late Round 4/early Round 5. There should be enough work to go around in Motown.
