|Olivier Vernon's back 'locked up' |
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
(8/4/14) Dolphins defensive end Olivier Vernon left Monday's practice when his back "locked up," reports the Miami Herald. Vernon, 23, led the team with 11.5 sacks last year while making 57 tackles.
|Albert: Olivier Vernon 'real, real good' |
|by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(6/27/14) Dolphins defensive end Olivier Vernon is considered a player on the rise, reports ESPN.
Actually, per the report, he has been rishing for two years now after he led the Dolphins with 11.5 sacks in 2013. Now, Vernon is out to prove last season was not a fluke.
He's had another strong offseason, and he's impressed Pro Bowl left tackle Branden Albert.
"He's real, real good," Albert said.
|Dolphins pass rushers neutralized by Bills |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(12/22/13) The Dolphins' pass-rushing tandem of defensive end Olivier Vernon and linebacker Cameron Wake failed to make much of an impact in Week 16 against the Bills. Neither player managed to pick up a sack in the 19-0 loss; Vernon had five tackles, while Wake had just four.
Heading into the final game of the season, Vernon has 11 1/2 sacks, while Wake has 8 1/2, the second-lowest total of his career.
|Dolphins in good shape for Sunday's game |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(12/22/13) The Dolphins listed eight defensive players on the Week 16 injury report, but all of them were able to play Sunday against the Bills.
Despite being on the report, defensive linemen Olivier Vernon (ankle), Paul Soliai (ankle) and John Denney (illness) are active for Sunday's game, along with defensive backs Jamar Taylor (hamstring), Reshad Jones (groin), Brent Grimes (groin), Chris Clemons (knee, hamstring) and Nolan Carroll (knee).

(12/20/13) The Dolphins have placed eight players on their Friday injury report, but only running back Daniel Thomas (ankle) has been deemed more serious than probable for the Sunday game against Miami. He is questionable. All the probables play defense.
They are secondary mates Reshad Jones (groin), Chris Clemons (knee/hamstring), Jamar Taylor (hamstring), Nolan Carroll (knee) and Brent Grimes (groin) and defensive linemen Paul Soliai (ankle) and Olivier Vernon (ankle).
|Olivier Vernon surprised a lot of Fantasy owners in 2013 since he outplayed Cameron Wake and kept rookie Dion Jordan off the field. Vernon led the Dolphins with 11.5 sacks -- three more than Wake and tied for No. 7 in the NFL -- to go with 57 total tackles (46 solo). We'll find out if Vernon, who is entering a contract year, can have a repeat performance this year, but he's worth the risk as a No. 2 defensive lineman based on the lack of talent at the position. The biggest benefit for Vernon is Wake constantly faces double teams, allowing Vernon to get plenty of one-on-one matchups. Hopefully he can rack up another year of double digits in sacks, and Vernon is worth a mid-round pick in IDP leagues.
