Jamaal Charles' return a last hurrah for Knile Davis?
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/30/14) The good news is Knile Davis delivered his second straight 100-yard game even with star running back Jamaal Charles back on the field Week 4 against New England. The bad news is Charles looked so good himself that Davis may not have a shot at another.

Only two weeks removed from a high ankle sprain that seemed certain to sideline him for weeks to come, Charles scored three touchdowns -- one on the ground and two through the air -- and was consistent with his 18 carries, the longest going for 17 yards. He acknowledged some soreness afterward but gave no reason to believe he won't be back out there Week 5 at San Francisco.

In fact, if not for a big lead in the second half, he might have been out there longer in Week 4. Of Davis' 16 carries, 11 came in the second half. He played 43 percent of the Chiefs' snaps to Charles' 54 percent.

If Week 5 ends up being a closer game -- and it most likely will be -- the Chiefs may not ask Davis to spell Charles as much. While you're no doubt pleased with your decision to stick with the backup despite Charles' return, you may have simply lucked out. Davis remains as good as a of a handcuff option as you'll find in Fantasy, but you should plan to bench him for the foreseeable future.

Andy Reid wants to keep Knile Davis involved
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/30/14) Despite Jamaal Charles' return from an ankle injury, Chiefs coach Andy Reid indicated running back Knile Davis will continue to get substantial work. Davis has run for 239 yards the past two weeks.

"They're both explosive players," Reid told ESPN.com. "They're completely different players, but they're both explosive players. That makes my job easy. Just give them the ball."

Knile Davis goes over 100 yards for second straight week
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/29/14) Chiefs running back Knile Davis shared backfield duties with star Jamaal Charles on Monday night, but it didn't stop the second-year pro from going over 100 yards rushing for the second straight week. Davis ran 16 times for 107 yards (6.7 ypc) and caught one of two targets for 12 yards.

Davis got going early, ripping off a 48-yard run in the first quarter. He played 30 snaps to Charles' 34. Davis is up to 321 rushing yards through four games entering Sunday's visit to San Francisco.

Chiefs running back situation a dilemma again
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/25/14) If you benched Knile Davis last week because you weren't sure you'd be able to find a suitable replacement from one of the three 4 p.m. games if Jamaal Charles made a miraculous return, you were probably pretty upset when Davis not only started, but piled up 132 yards and a touchdown. I was right there with you. My substitute, Stevan Ridley, had only 61 and no touchdown. Good thing we got the weird schedule stuff out of the way so we don't have to go through that aga--

What's that? The Chiefs are playing the Monday night game? Is this some kind of sick joke? You won the waiver claim for Knile Davis, the most significant of the year so far, but because the Chiefs refuse to accept that Charles is going to need some time to recover from a high ankle sprain, you can't be completely sure he's going to sit until the Chiefs reveal their inactives. And they don't do that until 90 minutes before game time. So when their game time is later than everyone else's, it doesn't really help, does it?

Annoying, to say the least. I, for one, don't want to be hoodwinked again, but the thing about being hoodwinked is you don't know you're being hoodwinked until you've been hoodwinked. If you own both Charles and Davis, it's easy. You just wait for the inactives and then make the call between the two. But if you own just Davis ... oh, to heck with it. I'm starting him. Even if Charles is active, it's not like he's going to play every down with that bum ankle. And if a shared role yields only 50 yards for Davis, well, that's not any worse than what Ridley did for me last week, is it?

Knile Davis has a career day as a starter in Week 3
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/21/14) Chiefs running back Knile Davis got the start and enjoyed a career day, registering his first 100-yard rushing game in Week 3 against Miami.

Davis gashed Miami's defense for a 21-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. He took 32 handoffs for 132 yards and a touchdown on the ground, averaging 4.1 yards per carry -- all a career high for the 22-year-old. He finished without a reception despite being targeted once in a 34-15 victory.

Davis could shoulder the load again in Week 4 at home against New England, depending on the status of Jamaal Charles. Charles was a limited participant in practice and nearly played in Week 3.
