Fantasy Analysis
In 2012 the 15-year vet made just 29 of 42 field goals after making 44 of 52 field goals in 2011. It was the first time since he became a regular placekicker he made less than 70 percent of his field goals. But you can't necessarily blame leg strength as he averaged 66.0 yards per kickoff for the second year in a row, nearly tying the career-high he set in 2011. The Lions see something in him even though Akers made just 9 of 14 field goals indoors last season including two postseason games (two misses from 50-plus yards). For now expect owners to give Akers the benefit of the doubt since kicking for the Lions should result in a high number of attempts, meaning the potential for plenty of Fantasy points. Akers is worth a pick within the last two rounds on Draft Day.
