(3/1/13) As expected, the Bears have informed free-agent defensive lineman Henry Melton that he will receive the franchise tag, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "It just feels good to be thought of so highly," Melton said. "Been a long road and now just want to get a long term deal done and remain a Bear for years to come."

(2/15/13) The Chicago Tribune reported Friday that the Bears are in negotiations with free-agent defensive lineman Henry Melton on a long-term contract. If the two sides can not come to an agreement on a deal, the Bears are expected to franchise tag Melton by the March 4 deadline.

| Playing in a contract year agreed with Henry Melton, and he'll do it again in 2012. Hit with the franchise tag, Melton will look to improve on his stats when he had 6.0 sacks and 43 total tackles. He's more important to the Bears than he is to Fantasy owners, however. He's worth a late pick as a reserve DL. (Updated 4/25/13) |
