Steelers facing decisions on three running backs
|by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst|
|(2/9/14) The Steelers will try to re-sign free agent running backs Jonathan Dwyer and LaRod Stephens-Howling but not Felix Jones, reports ESPN.com. Dwyer would be an ideal backup to Le'Veon Bell but might leave for a chance to play more, the report said.
Stephens-Howling must prove he's healthy following ACL surgery. If he's the only one who returns, the Steelers would seek to bolster the position through free agency or the draft, the report said.
LaRod Stephens-Howling hurts knee
|by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com|
|(9/8/13) Steelers running back LaRod Stephens-Howling suffered a right knee injury Sunday during the Week 1 game at home against the Titans Sunday. Stephens-Howling started the second half after Isaac Redman strugged as the starter, but couldn't go much longer as he suffered the injury. |
Prior to leaving the game, Stephens-Howling rushed six times for 19 yards as he was leading the team at the time of his departure. He also caught two passes for 11 yards and did not score.
A healthy Stephens-Howling may have been the starter for Week 2 at Cincinnati. As it stands now, he'll likely be questionable for that game on the injury report. Felix Jones took over for the Steelers as Redman didn't see many touches following the early-game struggles.

|(9/3/13) Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced Tuesday running back Isaac Redman will start Week 1 against the Titans. As for the backup situation, Tomlin said he hasn't decided how he will use LaRod Stephens-Howling and Felix Jones.
"Obviously we will spell Isaac," Tomlin said. Tomlin added Stephens-Howling will be in the mix for carries Sunday and "we'll continue to get to know Felix."
