Steelers get offensive contributions in comeback win

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11/17/14) The Steelers got several contributions in their 27-24 win at Tennessee on Monday night. Among them, receiver Lance Moore made a 15-yard catch, wideout Markus Wheaton caught one of five targets for 6 yards and running back Dri Archer had one reception for minus-5 yards.

They're all on a bye Week 12.

Bit players do only a bit for Steelers in Sunday defeat

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11/9/14) A poor performance by the Steelers offense Sunday filtered down to their bit players. Among them was running back LeGarrette Blount, whose five carries amounted to zero yards.

Markus Wheaton did catch four passes for 41 yards while tight end Heath Miller, who was blanked in the first half, added three for 29 yards. Lance Moore caught two for 28 yards.

One and all will try to do better when Pittsburgh plays at Tennessee next Monday night.

Touchdowns the only good for Markus Wheaton

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11/3/14) Even with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger setting passing records Week 9 against Baltimore, wide receiver Markus Wheaton managed just two catches. He was targeted four times, or as often as the Eagles' Josh Huff in another game a world away.

Perhaps you've heard of him, but probably not. After all, he wasn't on the other end of one of Roethlisberger's six touchdown passes.

The point is Roethlisberger's back-to-back six-touchdown games are making Wheaton look better than he is. He had two catches on four targets in this one and got only 56 of Roethlisberger's 522 yards in Week 8. But because he had a touchdown in both games, he's one of the most viewed players in Fantasy right now.

Unless you think this is the new normal for Roethlisberger and not another of the many teases throughout his career -- from the two four-touchdown games last year to the 15 touchdowns in a seven-game span in 2012 to the five-touchdown game in 2011 to the 11 touchdowns in a three-game span way back in 2007 -- Wheaton may soon find himself without the touchdowns and with nothing more to fall back on.

I mean, with all the passes thrown Antonio Brown's way and the recent emergence of Martavis Bryant, it's not like he's moving up in the pecking order.

Steelers WR Markus Wheaton catches touchdown in Week 9 win

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/3/14) Steelers wide receiver Markus Wheaton caught just two of his four targets Sunday but managed to rack up 62 yards and a touchdown in his team's 43-23 win over the Ravens in Week 9.

Wheaton hauled in a perfectly-placed deep ball with less than a minute left in the first half and ran the final few yards into the end zone for a 47-yard score. He wasn't the only one to find paydirt, as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger tossed six touchdowns for the second straight game. Wheaton is responsible for two scores during that stretch, and he now has 31 catches, 395 yards and two touchdowns going into his Week 10 matchup with the Jets.

Martavis Bryant outshines Markus Wheaton again

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/27/14) Granted, both had their moments on a day when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger set franchise records with 522 yards and six touchdowns, but Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant was the preferred target to Markus Wheaton again Week 8 against Indianapolis.

Bryant, a rookie who didn't even play the first six weeks, caught five passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught a 52-yard bomb to set up another score in the second quarter. Wheaton, who has been a starter for much of the season, also caught five passes, but for 56 yards and one touchdown.

Bryant got seven targets to Wheaton's five, taking the lead for a second straight week. Of course, the comparison between Week 8 and Week 7 isn't entirely fair. In Week 7, Bryant had two catches for 40 yards and a touchdown, and Wheaton went without a catch on two targets.

So even if Bryant seems to be pulling ahead, it may not be a big deal in Fantasy. Roethlisberger won't for 522 yards every week, after all, and Antonio Brown is still the No. 1 guy in Pittsburgh. But in leagues with more than 12 teams, Bryant's three touchdowns in two games have earned him a look.
