Donald Jones retiring due to kidney disease

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/7/13) Former Bills wideout Donald Jones says he is retiring from football at age 25 due to a kidney disease. Jones caught 82 passes for 887 yards and six touchdowns in three seasons with Buffalo.

Jones signed with New England in March, but was released in July.

"I have been suffering from a kidney disease throughout my entire life," Jones wrote. "As a result of recent advances in my disease, I am no longer able to pursue my career in the National Football League."

(7/23/13) Wideout Donald Jones, released last week by the Patriots, will work out for the Titans and Colts, reports NFL.com.

Pats release Donald Jones

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(7/20/13) The Patriots parted ways with wide receiver Donald Jones Friday, according to NFL.com.

Jones signed a three-year deal with New England in March, though none of the money in the contract was guaranteed. The 25-year-old had 41 catches for 443 yards and four touchdowns with the Bills last season. He will hit the waivers and could find a new team during camp.

Pats to release Donald Jones

by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/19/13) NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Friday that the New England Patriots will release wide receiver Donald Jones

In 12 games with the Bills last season, Jones, 25, caught a career-best 41 catches for 443 yards, scoring four touchdowns.

Jones to fight for job

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/3/13) ESPN reports that Patriots receiver Donald Jones, who signed as a free agent this offseason from Buffalo, could be fighting for a job in training camp along with fellow free agent signee Michael Jenkins. Both receivers now project to No. 5 or 6 on the depth chart behind Danny Amendola, draft picks Aaron Dobson/Josh Boyce and Julian Edelman. Had the Patriots drafted just one receiver, the odds naturally would have been better for both of them to possibly stick on the roster. Now, assuming good health, there might be just one spot (if any at all).
