Falcons backups get on the board Thursday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/19/14) The Falcons backups made an impact Thursday against the Buccaneers.

With the team up by a ton, Atlanta started using their subs in the third quarter. Jacquizz Rodgers received five carries for 6 yards. Rodgers also caught a pass for 3 yards.

Eric Weems seemed to be the biggest beneficiary, hauling in four passes for 69 yards. Fullback Patrick DiMarco gained 35 yards on three catches. Levine Toilolo also contributed, catching two passes for 25 yards. Courtney Roby picked up 11 yards on one reception.

They'll take on the Vikings Week 4.

Bad drop Levine Toilolo's biggest contribution
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/14/14) Falcons tight end Levine Toilolo, who scored a touchdown in his first game replacing the retired Tony Gonzalez in Week 1, didn't offer much Week 2 at Cincinnati, catching two passes for 13 yards.

He was targeted once more in the contest, but for the Falcons, it would have been better if he wasn't. An on-target pass from quarterback Matt Ryan early in the third quarter deflected off his hands and into the arms of a diving Leon Hall for an interception.

Toilolo will look to redeem himself Thursday night against the Buccaneers.

Some good, some bad for Levine Toilolo
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/7/14) Falcons tight end Levine Toilolo, who will attempt to replace the now retired Tony Gonzalez in only his second NFL season, looked the part on a 12-yard catch-and-run in the first quarter and a 1-yard touchdown grab in the third. But the Falcons were missing Gonzalez's sure-handedness when Toilolo failed to make what would have been a first-down grab on second-and-6 midway through the fourth quarter.

The Falcons would go on to score a touchdown on that drive, but Toilolo wasn't much of a factor the rest of the way. In all, he was targeted six times, catching three passes for 19 yards and, of course, the touchdown.

Meanwhile, four Falcons wide receivers caught five passes or more for 65 yards or more, so Toilolo has plenty of competition for looks. He'll look to stay relevant Week 2 at Cincinnati.

Levine Toilolo bulks up
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/10/14) Falcons tight end Levine Toilolo "added a lot of muscle in the offseason, especially to his upper body," reports the team's website. The 6-8 Toilolo played at 265 pounds last year. The website did not say how much Toilolo weighs now.

Toilolo figures to start now that Tony Gonzalez has retired. He won't get nearly as many passes thrown his way, but could become a red-zone factor. Toilolo caught 11 balls for 55 yards and two touchdowns last season while appearing in every game.

Falcons' tight ends not looking like Fantasy producers
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(5/11/14) With the retirement of Tony Gonzalez, the Falcons are undergoing a change in philosophy about their tight end position, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. General manager Thomas Dimitroff said there weren't a lot of athletic pass-catching tight ends available in the draft, and the team will be more traditional in its 2014 approach.

Look for Atlanta's tight ends to line up on the line of scrimmage and block more. The team wants to be more physical up front.

"There’ll be a change in the type of tight end we’ll have on our roster," coach Mike Smith told the paper. "We’ll have a ‘Y’ tight end, where he’ll be an inline player (lined up tight to the formation). They won’t be moving around nearly as much as what we call an ‘F.’ Tony Gonzalez was more of an ‘F’ tight end than a ‘Y’ tight end."

Levine Toilolo, who had 11 catches as a rookie last year, and blocking tight end Bear Pascoe sit atop the depth chart.
