Whiz to Rome: QB battle is even: Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt told CBS Sports Network's Jim Rome that the battle between Kevin Kolb and John Skelton to start at quarterback this season is even right now. "That's the question that's going to be answered through the workouts this spring and in training camp this summer," Whisenhunt said. "They've both been working hard at it. It's been good to get out on the field and actually work on techniques and fundamentals with these guys. At times last year they both showed they can do good things. But consistency at that position is something we've got to improve on. So hopefully the competition between both of them will sharpen up one of them enough that he'll be a good starter for us." Fantasy Analysis
Skelton helped the Cardinals finish 8-8 as he stepped in numerous times for Kolb, including when he dealt with concussion issues. He finished the season with 1,913 passing yards and 11 touchdowns along with 14 interceptions. He completed just 54.9 pct. of his passes. It's going to take a superb summer from Skelton to unseat Kolb as the starter, though it wouldn't be a surprise to see Skelton play eventually. He's not worth drafting at the moment, especially with the QB situation in the desert unsettled. (Updated 05/21/2012).
