Dolphins not expected to re-sign Knowshon Moreno
|by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst|
|(2/5/15) Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno played in just three games last season due to an elbow injury and a torn ACL. ESPN.com expects Miami to "find a power back who is more durable" to complement starter Lamar Miller in 2015.
Moreno, 27, is scheduled to hit free agency. He played well when he was healthy, rushing 31 times for 148 yards (4.8 ypc) and a touchdown.
Dolphins' Lamar Miller surpasses 1,000 rushing yards in loss
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(12/28/14) Dolphins running back Lamar Miller surpassed 1,000 rushing yards during the Dolphins’ 37-24 loss to the Jets Sunday.
Miller came into the game needing 79 yards to reach 1,000 yards and surpassed it on a 97-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. The run was the longest touchdown run in Dolphins’ history. Miller finished the game with a season-high 178 rushing yards on 19 carries. He was also targeted twice in the passing game, but failed to record a catch.
By surpassing 1,000 rushing yards, Miller became the first running back for the Dolphins to run for more than 1,000 yards since Reggie Bush in 2011. Miller accomplished the feat desite never receiving more than 19 carries in any game this season.
Lamar Miller closing the season out strong
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(12/21/14) The Dolphins have mostly looked to limit running back Lamar Miller's touches this season, as he entered Week 16 with fewer than 20 touches in all but one game so far. He blew past that mark Sunday against the Vikings, and showed just what he can do in a 37-35 win.
Miller rushed the ball a season-high 19 times, and consistently had productive runs, racking up 92 yards with a long of just 14. The story was similar in the passing game, as he had five receptions for 58 yards, with a long of just 18. It was his best receiving game of the season, to go along with his second-best rushing game.
Miller has already rushed for a career-high 984 yards, and seems all-but assured of surpassing the 1,000-yard mark in the finale. He also has eight total touchdowns, after rushing for just three in his first 29 games, showing he can be an all-around back.
Assuming the Dolphins don't bring anyone in to compete for the job, Miller could be a borderline first-round value for the 2015 Fantasy season. In the near team, however, he's got a tough matchup to close out the season against the Jets, though he did have 12 Fantasy points against them in a Week 13 matchup.
Dolphins RB Lamar Miller falls just short of 100 rushing yards
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(12/21/14) Dolphins running back Lamar Miller received his most extensive action of the season during the Dolphins’ 37-35 win over the Vikings Sunday.
Miller received a season-high 19 carries for 92 yards while also catching five passes for a season-high 58 yards on seven targets. The five receptions tied his season high. Miller also scored on a 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
Miller has yet to surpass more than 20 carries in a game this season, but is less than 100 away yards from achieving his first 1,000 yard rushing season.
The Dolphins will play the Jets Week 17.
Dolphins RB Lamar Miller held under 50 yards in Week 15 loss
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(12/14/14) Dolphins running back Lamar Miller failed to make much of an impact during Sunday's 41-13 defeat to New England in Week 15.
Miller carried the ball 16 times for 47 yards, averaging 2.9 yards per attempt. He caught just one pass for a gain of 10 yards.
Miller has been held under 60 rushing yards in six of his last seven games. He has 829 yards and six touchdowns on the ground this season. He'll have two games to surpass the 1,000-yard threshold for the first time in his three-year career, starting Week 16 vs. Minnesota and Week 17 vs. N.Y. Jets.
|Dolphins running back Lamar Miller was a disappointment in 2013, but he rebounded in 2014 in a big way, which sets up well for his outlook this year even with the addition of rookie Jay Ajayi on the roster. He finished last season with 216 carries for 1,099 yards and eight touchdowns and 38 catches for 275 yards and one touchdown. He took advantage of Knowshon Moreno suffering a torn ACL in Week 6, and he should be the featured option in the backfield again this season, with Ajayi more of a complement. Miller won't come off the field much, barring an injury, and Ajayi is a good handcuff with a late-round pick. It will help that Miller is in a potential contract year, and he put on weight to help handle a bigger workload. He was the No. 9 running back in standard leagues last year, and he could easily finish in that range again. He's worth drafting with a third-round pick in the majority of leagues.
