Cardinals RB Kerwynn Williams dealing with hamstring issue
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(6/1/15) Cardinals running back Kerwynn Williams sat out practice Monday with a hamstring injury. Bruce Arians told ESPN that the ailment could keep him sidelined all week.
Williams finally earned a shot last season Arizona, his third team in three years. He rushed for 246 yards and a 4.6 per-carry average.
Cardinals running backs do little in playoff loss to Carolina
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(1/3/15) Cardinals running backs Kerwynn Williams, Stepfan Taylor, Marion Grice and Robert Hughes could do little to nothing in Arizona's 27-16 loss to the Panthers Saturday. Arizona's running backs had 15 carries for 27 yards and one touchdown in defeat.
Grice had just one carry for one yard and a touchdown. It was initally called a fumble on the field, with the ball popping out as Grice stretched for the end zone. However, it was overturned and called a touchdown.
The Cardinals have been unable to get anything going on the ground the past few weeks, averaging 1.86 yards per carry in Arizona's last two outings.
Cardinals' Kerwynn Williams leads the way Week 17
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(12/28/14) Cardinals running back Kerwynn Williams led the team in rushing again Week 17 against the 49ers.
Williams carried the ball 17 times for 67 yards. He averaged 3.9 yards per attempt. Williams was not a threat in the passing game. While he did receive one target, Williams failed to come up with the catch. It was the third straight game in which Williams received at least 15 carries.
Williams will take on the Panthers in the playoffs next week. Carolina is favored by -4.5 points.
Cardinals RB situation a complete mess now
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
|(12/22/14) Whether it was because he was limited in practice by a knee injury leading up to the game or because the Cardinals fell behind early and needed more of a pass blocker in the backfield, running back Kerwynn Williams, who had performed admirably the previous two weeks, totaling 175 yards on the ground, was hardly a factor Week 16 against Seattle, getting two carries for 4 yards.
Instead, Stepfan Taylor was the lead ball carrier. Of course, he wasn't so effective in the role, picking up 19 yards on 11 carries, but that's bound to happen for any running back going against the Seahawks. He did at least have 25 yards on two catches. Marion Grice and Robert Hughes also each got a carry, but they haven't been as much of a factor with Andre Ellington out.
Williams seems to be the best rusher of the group and the one you'd prefer to see get the carries in Fantasy, but if the Cardinals are that willing to abandon him when the score isn't in their favor, you can never feel confident playing him in Fantasy. Especially now that the Cardinals are down to their third quarterback, the score isn't going to be in their favor so often.
Week 17 at San Francisco should be a more competitive game, but given that the 49ers are tough against the run as well, you should probably pass on Williams for the season's final week.

Playing the Waiver Wire for Week 17
There could be several key players out this week because of playoff implications, so plan wisely heading into Week 17. Our Jamey Eisenberg provides some options in his Playing the Waiver Wire.
|Kerwynn Williams is competing for a role as the No. 3 running back for the Cardinals. Andre Ellington and David Johnson are expected to be the top two options in the backfield, but Williams will compete with Stepfan Taylor for the No. 3 job. Last year, Williams had 53 carries for 246 yards and two catches for 11 yards for the Cardinals. Should Ellington or Johnson struggle or get hurt then Williams could see extended action, but he's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues.
