Todd Haley compares Dri Archer to Jamaal Charles
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/29/14) Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley said rookie Dri Archer's running style reminds him of Chiefs star Jamaal Charles, minus 20 pounds, reports NFL.com. Archer is listed at 5-8, 173 pounds. Charles goes 5-11, 199 pounds.
Dri Archer busy on first day of practice
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/27/14) Steelers third-round pick Dri Archer, a blazing fast (4.26 forty) running back out of Kent State, lined up as a slot receiver early in the team's first practice, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. Archer later broke off a couple of long runs and served as the first-team punt returner.
Coach describes Dri Archer as 'ace in the hole'
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/14/14) Steelers receivers coach Richard Mann told the official team website that rookie running back Dri Archer has already made strides as a receiving threat on top of working as a change-of-pace back on handoffs.

"We feel like he can be our ace in the hole, or the joker, since we can use him in various positions," Mann said. "We can move him around. We can utilize his running ability by lining him up as a running back, and he also has receiving skills. I think it's up to coach (Todd) Haley and the offensive staff to put him in places where he can succeed. I think he's going to be a weapon for us."

Archer tallied 10 total touchdowns and 854 total yards on less than 100 touches at Kent State last season.

Dri Archer says he'll have 'a big role'
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/2/14) Steelers rookie running back Dri Archer told the Akron Beacon Journal that he's going to have "a big role" in the offense this season, even if he isn't sure what it will entail.

"I'm not sure," Archer said of what his role will be. "It's going to be a big role, but I'm just going to do whatever I'm asked to do. Play receiver, play running back, helping special teams. Whatever they want me to do, I'm going to do it."

Archer could see time in the slot as well as in the backfield but is unlikely to unseat Le'Veon Bell or LeGarrette Blount as key running backs in the Steelers offense.

In 10 games last season with Kent State, Archer tallied 10 total touchdowns and 854 total yards on 68 carries and 25 catches.

Haley talks up Archer as a change-of-pace back
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/17/14) Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley talked up rookie Dri Archer as a versatile player with speed -- and those are the kinds of difference makers that can help an offense pull off some big plays.

"Dri is a unique guy because he's not really a running back, and he's not really a receiver. He can do both," Haley told the official team website. "He's a really smart guy who's fast, clearly the fastest guy whenever we're out on the field. He is a rookie, so we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but he looks like a guy who will be a very good change of pace at the running back position, much different from Le'Veon and LeGarrette Blount. And he'll definitely be a speed factor at the receiver position."

In 10 games last season with Kent State, Archer tallied 10 total touchdowns and 854 total yards on 68 carries and 25 catches.
